Sometimes what looks like a small support…
is actually doing something really big.
A visual timetable.
A first/then card.
A timer.
Visuals can be used across any part of your child’s day. From morning routines to play, transitions and bedtime.
They’re not about making things easier or “giving in.”
They’re about helping your child understand what’s happening, what’s coming next, and what’s expected of them.
Because when things feel unclear…
they can feel overwhelming.
And when things feel overwhelming, behaviour is often the only way your child can communicate that.
Visual supports don’t change your child.
They change the environment around them, making it clearer, calmer and more predictable.
For some children, that’s not just helpful…
it’s what allows them to cope, to participate, and to feel safe.
If this resonates, you’re not alone and small changes can make a big difference 💛
I’d love to know… does your child use visual supports?
