What a great day we had in September with a return visit from Sing Sign and Strum. Atlas ukulele group. They are such a happy group of people and create a brilliant feel good for us all. Plenty of singing familiar songs and a little bit of dancing brought about an enjoyable session.

In August we welcomed Alan Galway from Wee Critters. I was unsure how everyone would feel about the session but I shouldn’t have worried. Alan was brilliant with everyone and each of us had the opportunity of either looking at or handling some of the ‘wee critters’. We had Armadillo, Skunk, Mouse, Snake, Tarantula, Toad, Cockroach to name a few. Everyone was really engaged and a number held the insects. A huge thank you to Alan for making the day really memorable.

We’ve had a lot of fun sessions over the summer months. Our July activity took the form of a table quiz which always goes down well followed by some Bingo. Plenty of prizes were to be had.

Our summer party in June got off to a great start. The theme “Lets Get Wild”. We were delighted to welcome 4 new members and their carers/family. We started the day with some fish and chips from John Dory’s followed by some ice creams.
After lunch we all enjoyed a lively session with Marcella and her tribal drums. There were drums for everyone as well as a variety of percussion instruments. All in all it was an extremely active session with everyone taking part.
A big thanks to Marcella who was a great support to us all.

A huge thankyou to Ann the Tesco Community Champion from Lisburn Bentrim Road. We were able to donate books for the stores secondhand book stall for the month of March. This is the second year Tesco have given our group a slot and we are delighted to receive a donation of £347.21. Marie, one of our volunteers checked how things were going with the stall every week, tidying books and adding new ones so a great big thankyou to her as well. She can be seen collecting our donation from Ann in the store.

In April we had a visit from Mac who works with Sport Changes Life Charity. He was super engaging with everyone, loads of laughter and competitiveness as our three teams competed in our first ever Boccia taster session.
A huge thank you to Sport Changes Life for facilitating this. Everyone had a great time and we hope to see Mac back again soon.
