Friday Thoughts 🙏
Not everyone gets the chance to wake up and live another day, but if we’re lucky enough to, it’s a blessing, and it’s our responsibility to make the most of this life, to move in the right direction, to be human first, and to treat everyone around us with respect and compassion. Helping others in whatever way we can is what truly matters. And if you have people in your life who genuinely care for you, you’re already one of the luckiest people alive. Money can’t buy that kind of happiness.
I came to Australia from India in 2008, not knowing what the future would look like. In 2009, I started working in the disability sector, and I’ve never left. This profession has become my pride and my passion.
There’s nothing more meaningful than supporting someone and reminding them that life is still beautiful, still worth living. With reassurance and the right support, it becomes just a little easier to keep going. Just recently, one of the clients we support said to me over the phone, “What would I have done without your support?” That made my day. Words cannot describe that feeling at all.
To everyone working in disability or mental health: it is your responsibility to show love and compassion to the people you support and to help them trust that you’re there for them and that they can count on you.
All of us working in disability or mental health are fortunate, not only to earn a living, but to earn people’s trust and their blessings. Not many careers offer that.
