Freshfields is a spacious, purpose-built nursing home, in Formby, Merseyside. We support up to 33 individuals aged from 18 years old who require nursing care due to a physical disability or neurological condition. We are a wheelchair accessible home just a short distance to the beach, the National Trust’s “Red Squirrel Reserve” and have many local amenities close by like restaurants, shops, and sw
imming pools. Our specialist, nursing staff team are proud to support people who have needs resulting from physical disabilities and neurological conditions including spinal cord injuries, acquired brain injuries, stroke, cerebral palsy, Huntington’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease, spina bifida & hydrocephalus. Our dedicated staff team of Registered Nurses are highly skilled and trained to deliver specialist and complex nursing care and have significant experience with PEG care. We also focus on supporting the individuals who live at Freshfields with all round health & wellbeing programmes, rehabilitation, community access, enablement & transitioning to more independent accommodation, volunteering & purposeful activities. Uniquely, we have a pottery room with kiln, a large garden room, and activities room with projector for watching films or sport. Freshfields has an open plan dining room, coffee bar, and have adapted equipment to help individuals we support maintain their independence. Individuals living at Freshfields make full use of our large lounge rooms with TVs and Sky Facilities. We also have a sensory room with waterbed, bubble / light machine, music, projector, and screen for individuals to use. We have several adapted bathrooms throughout the building to help individuals with their personal care and Freshfields is wheelchair friendly throughout. We have 2 large wheelchair accessible vehicles and 1 smaller vehicle for individuals we support to make use of to access the community. We have a regular hairdressing service visiting Freshfields and staff and the volunteers support in our beauty salon. All our rooms have a tracking hoist system and most have the added benefit of being ensuite. We have free internet for all to use. We are proud of our 5* Food Hygiene Award and all our meals are freshly prepared and cooked by our experienced catering team, catering for specialised diets where required, all of which can be enjoyed in our large dining room. We are close to public transport (bus and train) which connects us easily with the surrounding areas. Individuals living at Freshfields benefit from having Activities Assistants who plan activities based on individual’s interests and needs and a Volunteer Coordinator. We have visiting volunteers who have supported us for many years who bring their own experiences and unique skills to support people living at Freshfields. Our volunteers and activities assistants make use of our Pottery Room, and help with activities such as arts and crafts, quizzes, book reading club, film days, cooking, themed evenings and especially our many parties and regular trips out. We also have a singing group called the Freshfield Warblers. We can support individuals at Freshfields on a short term / long term basis and can also accept respite placements for shorter stays.
