I used to be THAT girl…

I once thought that a ‘diet’ had to mean extreme restriction,

Fad diets,

Cutting out carbs,

No chocolate absolutely evvvuuur,

(or any of the things that bring me joy lol).

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again,

For most of you, your diet SHOULD have carbs in it.

It’s one of our main sources of energy in the body,

So why would we need to cut them when if we’re trying to lose body fat,

We probably actually need MORE energy to complete our daily activities, right?

You don’t need to cut carbs - you SHOULD actually be eating all of the food groups.

What you need is some structure.

It’s not all restriction and the monotony of plain chicken breast and green veg.

So yeah, you CAN lose fat eating carbs.

A carb free life ain’t one I can get behind, and it ain’t one that helped me

(or any of the 100’s of women we’ve coached here at LBC).

I remember when I started trying to lose weight 7 years ago,

And I tried many many times to crack it.

People cheered me on, UNTIL I was actually successful. ��When it was, all I got was:

‘You’re going too far’

‘You’re boring now’

‘Why don’t you wanna come for a bevvy?’

‘Would offer you one, but you can’t eat that can you?’

‘Thought you were on a diet anyway, why you eating that?’

Now, as well-intentioned as these comments could have been,

As I’ve gotten older and coached 100s of women to THEIR goals, I see it clearly for what it is.

When you start making changes to better yourself,

When you start prioritising your OWN needs above others,

When your opinions begin to change and what you find fun or interesting changes,

People start saying stuff like that.

And the reason why?��In a lot of cases, it’s because you’re proving that it CAN be done.

You’re holding up a mirror to people and showing them all the s**t that they’re NOT doing, even though they say they want to. ��Just know, if you’re on a fitness or fat loss journey right now and what you’re doing is what you WANT to do,

And more importantly - what you’re doing is having a positive affect on you and improving your life,

Drown out the noise and crack on.

You’re never criticised by those doing more than you gals, I can promise you that.

Now, if you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll have already become familiar with my gal Jeanette!

But the last update was a little while ago now, and ya’ll KNOW how I like to keep you in the loop, SO…

Over the last few months, Jeanette has lost another whopping 22lbs.

She’s now 44.5lbs down in total🤯

With 10 WHOLE INCHES😮‍💨 gone from the waist.

Now to recap, Jeanette knows better than anyone what it’s like to be ‘busy’…

New baby in tow,

Running a busy hairdressing business,

Navigating how to make better choices for herself nutritionally so she can be fuelled for both of the above,

And doing it ALL whilst training from home,

Because again - her two huge commitments above make it difficult for her to actually get to a gym.

But instead of making excuses,

She’s adapted each week.

Has she focused on being perfect?

Absolutely not.

There have been weeks where workouts have been missed,

Where nutrition hasn’t been perfect,

But she’s carried on despite it and focused on what she can do better the following week.

She ‘can’t believe how much progress’ she’s made,

And I think that it’s so important to congratulate that,

Show you that its entirely possible to achieve your goals even if you’re busy,

And results don’t require PERFECTION,

They require problem-solving, accountability, and the aim to be just 1% better each and every week.

All of our ladies are at different starting points when they come to us,

But there are a few things that they all have in common:

They all want to feel confident in their own skin,

Because they’ve spent so long feeling like s**t about themselves and they KNOW that it’s no way to live.

They all want to learn to love what they see in the mirror,

Because the reality is, every woman should be able to love the reflection that they see staring back at them.

And they all want to learn how to lose fat in a way that doesn’t mean they have to swear off a meal out with the family or a couple of wines with the girls.

You can’t get upset at the results you didn’t get, from the work you didn’t do.

I know, I know - ya feel SEEN.

But the fact is, there’s 13 weeks left of this year, girl.

I want you to think back.

What were the goals you set for yourself wayyyyy back in January?

Did you achieve them?

If you didn’t, I know how hard this can be to face…

But it’s on you.

I’m telling you this because I actually give a s**t.

I’ve been exactly where you are, giving myself every excuse possible as to why I didn’t get the outcome I wanted.

I know the script…

You’re ‘too busy and works been manic’.

You’ve been ‘waiting for the kids to go back to school’.

You’ve ‘got too many social events’.

You’re not ‘motivated’.

Girls, don’t be the one to allow yet another year to pass you by.

We all have choices.

No matter how busy you are, you CAN make progress.

I can promise you that - I say it with my full chest.

But you have to take responsibility for your own choices,

And that includes the broken promises made to yourself,

The excuses.

The work that you didn’t do.

Feeling confident in your own skin and loving what you see in the mirror requires taking action even when you don’t necessarily feel ‘ready’.

Even if the timing isn’t ‘perfect’

(FYI - there issssss no fkn perfect time)

If you’re reading this right now and it’s resonating,

Just know, I get it.

Taking your eyes off the prize and getting lost happens.

But this is your sign to make the rest of this year count.

Your sign to finally work on YOU and what you actually want for yourself.

There’s plenty of time to get ahead and make real change that gets you started on the right foot,

There’s just no need to enter another new year in the same way you did last year.

It really is on you, because nothing happens without you making that first step.

Everybody, meet Kate.

When she first came to me she was feeling down about her appearance,

Telling me that she wanted to make real lifestyle changes in order to…

‘Love my body more and feel confident in my own skin, which will ultimately improve my mental health and make me happier’.

She was skipping meals,

Neglecting herself,

Trying to live her life eating salads that she didn’t like everyday because she thought that was the ONLY way to ‘diet’,

She was stressed out at work,

And cardio-bunnying her way through the week.

I knew that together, I could show her that there was another way to live.

So, myself and Kate came up with something better to suit her and create more impact than what she had been doing previously.

Something that would reduce her stress,

Give her more energy,

Get her prioritising herself and her own needs,

Provide more education around food so that she COULD eat the things she enjoyed,

Teach her how to train effectively,

And more importantly, get her falling in love with herself and her body again.

We’re well on our way to building calories up from deficit to maintenance so that she can live even more flexibly.

This was never supposed to be a quick fix for Kate,

But something that she could implement into her lifestyle and keep forever.

I am so proud of all of her progress up until this point and can’t wait to see all the rest to come!😍

Just because it’s a new year doesn’t mean anything will change for you…

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with looking at the New Year as a fresh start,

A new beginning,

An opportunity to do things differently.

But the reality is that it’s just that:

An opportunity.

YOU have to make things change.

YOU have to be the factor within your life that shows up and does s**t differently for things to actually change.

You can’t just hope that with the New Year will come a massive shift,

JUST because it’s a New Year.

Unfortunately that just doesn’t happen.

I can’t tell you the amount of years I allowed to pass me by,

Hoping that with a new one would come a ‘new me’.

That by some miraculous stroke of luck

(Or whatever the FFFFF I was imagining it to be)

I’d magically change.

I’d suddenly feel confident in my own skin,

I’d immediately take control of my life,

I’d instantaneously be the kind of person I was dreaming of becoming…

Disciplined,

Strong,

Comfortable showing up as me.

No longer hiding behind being the loud-speak-my-mind-don’t-give-a-s**t-about-what-anyone-thinks-about-me bravado.

Believe me, I wasted years waiting for ‘that’ moment.

It never did come.

Instead, it came from me.

You heard me right.

Change comes from YOU and what YOU choose to do.

Nothing changes, if nothing changes,

Whether it’s a new year or not.

If YOU want to make change,

Believe me, you absolutely can.

I know that because you’re looking at a girl who used to try and get out of P.E. relentlessly,

(I’d rather do ANYTHING else back then😂)

And my idea of exercise just 5 years ago was me exercising my thumbs, pressing flick on the channels on the telly whilst lying on the couch covered in Dorito dust.

Look, if there’s anything you take into 2023 with you, take this:

You’re more powerful than you realise,

MUCH more than you realise.

YOU hold the key to whatever it is you want to achieve,

And the truth is…

It’s all in your hands.

Once you realise that,

So, it’s almost THAT time again,

Where the gyms are packed and everybody’s starting with those New Years resolutions.

YOU want to make a start too, but the very thought of stepping into a gym environment is enough to knock ya sick.

Right?
 
You feel like everybody’s watching you,
 
You’re not sure if what you’re doing is right…
 
AND every time you’ve been,
 
You talk yourself out of venturing on over into the weights section anyway and end up jumping on the treadmill for half an hour,
 
Finishing with a lack-lustre 10 mins on the bike for good measure,
 
That never actually seems to reap you any rewards in the results department.

Look, most people feel the exact same way you’re feeling when they first start out - I promise!

But there ARE some things you can do to help alleviate that gymxiety you’re experiencing👇🏼

1️⃣Train with a friend

Training with a friend is a great way to take away the stress and anxiety related to training at the gym.

It will make you feel at ease and less ‘silly’ - you’re in this together.

2️⃣Invest in a Coach

Being supported, guided, and accountable to somebody helps you to get you started,

And helps to take away the anxiety around guessing what to do at the gym each time you go.

3️⃣Have a plan of action

Whether you have a coach or not, don’t go in blind.

Have a session planned out on your phone or in a notebook to avoid wandering around the gym stressing about looking like you ‘don’t have a clue’.

4️⃣Research

If you’re not sure about how to perform an exercise, research it and look at multiple sources to do this - there’s lots of form breakdown videos out there now, too!

5️⃣Ask

If you’re unsure about an exercise or anything in the gym at all, ask an employee or even a gym member to guide you in the right direction.

On the whole, people at the gym are there to work on themselves and improve - they’re pretty friendly people - so don’t sweat about asking questions!

…And remember, you’re there for YOU, you’re there to better YOURSELF.

Don’t worry about what Sheila and Andy are doing at the gym - worry about YOU.

This time last year VS. now for my girl …

THAT👆🏼is what it’s alllllll about.

Truly.

Helping somebody to achieve the confidence that they never EVER believed possible for them.

Helping somebody to genuinely feel happy within their life.

NOT just because their appearance has changed,

But because as a result of stepping out of their comfort zone to make their appearance change,

Everything else has for them too.

During the time that we worked together,

Sarah proved to HERSELF that she was worthy of stepping into a gym,

That she was worthy of being treated like a Queen,

That she was worthy of wearing clothes that matched her personality,

That she was worthy of a new job,

That she was worthy of going after what she wanted,

That she was worthy of feeling amazing in her own skin.

Eternally proud of Sarah and all that she has achieved,
