๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ That niggly knee pain that just wonโt quit? Letโs talk Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS).
Also known as Runnerโs Knee but donโt be fooled by the name! It can also be caused by activities like squatting, jumping, or any movement that puts repeated stress on the knees.
PFPS is one of the most common causes of pain at the front of the knee, right behind or around the kneecap. ๐๐ฝ
It often develops from:
โจ Overuse or a sudden change in training
โจ Weakness in the hips or thighs
โจ Small misalignments in how the kneecap moves
Treatment can include:
๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ Manual therapy (massage or gentle mobilisations)
๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ Strength and stability exercises for the hips and thighs
๐ง๐ฝโโ๏ธ Stretching tight muscles to improve movement
๐ฃ Orthotic inserts to support knee alignment
๐ฉน Taping or bracing the knee during activity (can be helpful for some)
If youโve been feeling that dull ache or twinge around your kneecap, especially when using stairs, squatting, or sitting for long periods then please donโt ignore it. Early support and the right approach can make all the difference.
Our knees carry a lot of weight, literally and emotionally. They support us through every step, every squat, every climbโฆ so itโs only fair we look after them if we want them to last. ๐ค
๐ค Strong bodies need strong recovery and the right care helps you move without pain.
Come see me before your knees start throwing tantrums. ๐
