On Friday I met with staff and patients at Valley Medical Centre on Hartsbourne Ave to hear their experiences of both accessing and providing NHS services. The picture I was given mirrors other medical centres across Liverpool Garston and nationally, with staff doing the best they can with increasing patient numbers and waiting lists while patients are often frustrated at how hard it can be to get necessary treatment.

The Patient Group told me that they had seen a change in services over the years and do their best to support the practice. They could see how cuts to funding and services had impacted the care that could be delivered but also reported frustration at waiting lists of up to 18 months. They are dedicated to helping the centre and their fellow patients.

Rebuilding our NHS is not going to be a quick or easy job after nearly a decade and a half of Conservative mismanagement, but it is a task that we have already started in the three months since we were elected. We will cut NHS waiting times with 40,000 more appointments every week, recruit 8,500 additional mental health staff, double the number of cancer scanners and introduced shared waiting lists across neighbouring hospitals to reduce waiting lists. As I heard again on Friday our NHS is one of our greatest resources and I will continue to do all I can to support both those who rely on it and those who work in it.

Today, World Menopause Day aims to raise awareness and support for women going through menopause, a natural transition that affects half of the world's population. We believe everyone should have access to expert Menopause care , and we, along with many of our GP colleagues are able to provide this through our training with the British Menopause Society.

🩸 National Blood shortage Amber alert 🩸 The recent London hospital cyber attack, combined with unfilled appointments at Donor Centres in town and city centres, has caused stocks of O type blood to drop to unprecedented low levels.

The NHS urgently needs O type blood donors. O negative blood can be given to anyone.

There are over 12,000 appointments available over the next two weeks, and we really need to get them filled. We know how amazing our donors are, and we need your help to make this possible. If you are an O type blood donor, please call 0300 123 23 23 to make an appointment or follow the link ➡️ https://orlo.uk/QKNB9
