It has been an honor to speak today as part of day 1 at "The Fairytale of the Other: The Orientalist Gaze, the Villain,
and the Cultural Myths from Beyond" Conference. Ran by Film and Media department.

The interdisciplinary conference offers a space for us to challenge each other and the sorties and media we are exposed to due to colonisation and capitalism.

So many powerful and moving lived experiences shared through film, art and story telling.

I have been moved to tears so many times and we are only half way through the day!

My talk this morning was an autoethnograpic reflection from my recent improvised somatic dance movement piece "Promise, Protection, Progress." The piece shared my embodied experience of exploring gender identity whilst pregnant, now being in relationship and community with other gender non conforming individuals and my experience of gender non conforming parenting. The performance was part of the opening night of
Billy Winters Body Clock ehxhibition at Birch Studios, Hamilton Square.

"May the quality of consciousness that is emerging collectively within our world outweigh the quantity of unconsciousness that suffers on our planet. May all suffering become compassion. May we be ready, may we be able.” -Judith Adler

Healing isn’t linear.
And it isn’t meant to be rushed.
Sometimes slowing down is the work.
Trust the pace your body sets.

Anger isn’t the problem.
It’s what happens when it has nowhere to go.

Most of us were taught to suppress it, ignore it, or feel ashamed of it.
So it gets stored - in the body, in the nervous system, in patterns we don’t always understand.

Anger can look like:

tension, irritability, shutdown, anxiety, people-pleasing… even exhaustion.

But underneath all of that, anger is simply energy that needs movement.

Somatic work helps you meet that energy safely - to feel it, express it, and let it move through instead of turning inward.

If this resonates, there’s space to explore this gently and at your own pace.

We’re opening conversations around sponsored spaces for Somatic Rage Therapy.

This work can be deeply healing for people carrying long-term stress, trauma, and suppressed anger - yet access isn’t equal.

We’re inviting values-led organisations to partner with us and support community wellbeing through:

• sponsored places
• staff discount access
• alignment with CSR / ESG goals
This is preventative mental health care - felt in the body, not just written in reports.
If your organisation is interested in partnering, please get in touch 💛

I was blessed to perform at the opening night of Body Clock exhibition .studios.gallery last night. The exhibition follows the artist's experience of gender identity, transition and fertility clinic journey in a profound and vulnerable way.

I have shared here before my own experience of gender identity questioning and exploration once I became pregnant 10 years ago, it was a big awakening moment that changed everything. 10 years on my child goes through their own explosion of gender. This improvised somatic dance movement piece worked through those themes of my own gender identity, what that means within my relationship and now how it feels to be the parent to a young soul exploring identity in an increasingly hostile world.

I have carried and awful lot of pain and grief over the past 8 years but it has certainly become heavier over the last 18 months with the constant narratives we battle against.

This was a very special performance for me and I'm honoured to have been able to do it in community around amazing people and inspirational artists.

I know from conversations many the night brought up a lot of things, even those of us who have been on this journey for some time. For me I noticed a moment later on in the evening when is at down and instantly began to mask, crossing my legs, sitting up tall to perform public femininity, then I remembered I was safe there and allowed myself to relax, to slouch a little to uncross my legs and spread a little planting my feet firmly in to the floor. It felt like home and I am forever grateful.

Please go check out the exhibition and workshops happening all this week at the studio Hamilton Square, Birkenhead.

You don’t need to collapse to deserve rest.

You don’t need to finish everything first.

Rest is a biological need - not a reward for productivity.

Let your body catch up 💛

has made world book day very easy for me. I now get to go as myself 😍 no costume needed.

It's been on of the great honours of my life to have a friendship with Jennifer and watch her dreams become reality.

I have been blessed to have her share her story and to be a part of that. The wheel: A witches Path back to the ancient self is a brilliant read for budding and experienced witches alike.

Jen is also launching her next book Underwing: A story of motherhood, loss and wild intuition. A powerful story of her lived experience of baby loss and her connection to the earth and spirituality supporting her through that difficult time. Jen has a book reading and signing in this Thursday come join me celebrating this powerful witchy woman.

Children experience the world through their bodies first 💛

Somatic techniques support children to:

💛 recognise sensations in their body
💛 notice early signs of overwhelm
💛 regulate big emotions safely
💛 build emotional awareness and self-trust

This work isn’t about asking children to “calm down”.

It’s about giving them practical, body-based tools they can actually use.
With a background in youth work, I offer trauma-informed somatic wellbeing sessions in schools and educational settings, supporting both children and the adults around them 🫶

These sessions focus on:

• nervous system awareness
• co-regulation and emotional safety
• simple techniques children can return to again and again

Early somatic support helps children build resilience that lasts far beyond the classroom ✨

You can’t rush regulation.

The nervous system moves through cycles of activation and rest - and healing happens when we learn to listen rather than override.
Somatic work is about timing:
Knowing when to move.
When to pause.
When to rest.

The body always tells the truth - if we give it space to speak.

I took some time before sharing this.

What unfolded at the BAFTAs has been painful and triggering for many, particularly within Black and Disabled communities.

This carousel is offered as an acknowledgement of harm, a call for accountability, and a reminder to tend to our nervous systems when collective grief and shame surface.

If this has been activating, please take care of your body first. Stepping back, resting, and grounding are not avoidance. They are regulation.

Your pain is valid. What matters now is how we move forward with care, learning, and responsibility.

Rest is allowed 💛
