🏥 We are incredibly proud to have so many specialist women across our 38 hospitals.

👩‍⚕️ We recently hosted a women’s health symposium in Bowral with a clear goal; to hear from leading specialist women and highlight important health issues impacting women, including breast cancer, mental health in perimenopause, brain cancer and heart failure.

❤️ We know women are nearly twice as likely as men to skip or delay healthcare due to the costs and women are experiencing more years in poor health than men.

🥅 Our goal in hosting the event was to connect with GPs through education, because they play such a critical role in empowering patients to actively manage their own health and wellbeing.

🩺 The symposium was attended by over 100 GPs from Canberra to south-west Sydney.

🙂 We’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback about the quality of information shared and the connections attendees made at the event:

Happy International Women's Day!

We chatted to another one of our Healthscope superwomen, Neurosurgeon, Dr Joanna Lee, from Sydney Southwest Private Hospital.

She said: “Women have made incredible strides in medicine and surgery, but there’s still much work to be done in terms of equality and overcoming bias. My role as a mentor to students and doctors has been invaluable to me, and hopefully to them. I have hopefully contributed to shaping their future in medicine and surgery, and to encourage diversity in the field. International Women’s day is an excellent time to celebrate those achievements and to continue pushing for positive change, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued.”
