To support the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) we are offering a series of four events between November 2022 and April 2023.

PSIRF will replace the current Serious Incident Framework 2015.

The framework represents a significant shift in the way the NHS responds to patient safety incidents and is a major step towards establishing a safety management system across the NHS. A key part of the NHS patient safety strategy, the PSIRF supports the development and maintenance of an effective patient safety incident response system that integrates four key aims:

· Compassionate engagement and involvement of those affected by patient safety incidents

· Application of a range of system based approached to learning from patient safety incidents

· Considered and proportionate responses to patient safety incidents

· Supportive oversight focused on strengthening response system functioning and improvement

The events will feature speakers from PSIRF early adopter sites, NHSE’s Patient Safety team, Health Education England and ICS based workshops to support PSIRF preparation.

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) celebrates its 125th year anniversary in 2023. As part of a schedule of events for the occasion, LSTM are hosting a series of lectures featuring prominent UK scientists and thinkers.
Professor Dame Sally Davies, UK Special Envoy on Antimicrobial Resistance, is delivering a lecture entitled: ‘Antimicrobial Resistance; where next?’ on 7th November.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has joined a prestigious partnership to enhance its pioneering cancer research and drive more new treatments for patients.
Clatterbridge is now collaborating with the world-renowned Royal Marsden hospital, in London, as part of a Biomedical Research Centre (BRC).
Being in a BRC and the new partnership will enhance Clatterbridge’s ability to turn ground-breaking clinical research into fully-fledged treatments at its hospitals and so further improve outcomes for patients. Clatterbridge will work with The Royal Marsden on clinical trials, share best practice and mount joint research funding bids.

Thank you to the wonderful Alba Butler for lighting up Blackpool Tower to celebrate 2020!
Alba, four, has undergone four heart operations and mum Alejandra Garcia said the family are always keen to celebrate World Heart Day to spread the word about heart research and treatment.
