Meet our community

Meet Rob

“Before I started coming to meditation classes my life was a bit chaotic, stressful, I was worrying about things.

What I realised is there’s various situations I’ve just been able to think, “oh, I remember that teaching years ago or months ago.”

Something as simple as patience when driving, letting somebody out, not getting annoyed. So lots of little things that add up over time.

Coming to the centre is brilliant.

The building as a whole is beautiful. The room where the classes are is fantastic.

I always leave feeling better than when I arrived.

You come in this room for an hour and you leave and you’ll feel great or definitely better.

It’s awesome.

I would say to someone who was thinking of coming- Get down here. The building is great. The people that come here are very friendly and welcoming,

Obviously the monks that do the teachings, they have fantastic knowledge and they are just passing on what they’ve learned to enable us to have better lives.

And now and then in turn we pass it on to people.

We know everyone gets a bit happier over time. So yeah, for sure, come down to the center, try it here and if you can.

Get to the special talk and you say George’s Hall ‘cause it will be amazing.”

We have a lovely welcoming community here at KMC Liverpool.

Meet Annie

“Before I started coming to classes I was running around like a headless chicken, spinning plates.

I always wanted to come here but something always happened, it always seemed far away.

But then my husband and I just decided to try it out.

First it was hard to get into, it but I knew I had to give it a few classes.

Then suddenly something just clicked.

I felt more grounded, more peace, more calm.

I stopped beating myself up if something went wrong.

I realised I was able let go of unnecessary anger and frustration- easy come easy go.

When I come here I just get a sense of calm. I feel really calm and look forward to the next session.“

About
We need to give peace a chance to appear and grow in the minds of our children.
The number one thing we think when we begin to practice Dharma and meditation later in life is: “Boy, I wish I had started doing this when I was younger!”.
Learning to control our own mind and develop a meditation practice early in life is immeasurably beneficial.
We owe it to our kids to give them this opportunity.

These classes will help your child develop:
* loving kindness and compassion

* confidence and focus

* consideration for others

* a state of calm and peace

* a happy and positive mind

Meet Eddie, pictured here with another of our community Pauline.

Eddie “I was so lost before I came to the centre. It was hopeless. I was hopeless, searching for happiness where it can’t be found.

If I hadn’t found the centre I’d have been lost, I mean truly. Lost forever.

From coming here everything changed for me and nothing changed.

Nothing changed in the sense that I still went to work, saw my friends, went to the cinema. But everything changed in that I had the understanding that I had happiness, right here on the inside.

It changed my whole life, my whole purpose, my whole intention, aspiration. What is life for? To earn loads of money and watch Coronation Street?

Not that there is anything wrong with earning money and watching Coronation Street. But is that the purpose? It changed everything for me.

it’s amazing coming here.

You meet like minded people who are trying to improve themselves. People who are trying to develop qualities like love, compassion, consideration for others, giving to others, gratitude, positive states of mind.

So when you are in that environment it’s easy for those qualities to flourish.

Whereas out there, in every day life when everyone is striving, it’s hard to be kind or be patient because those qualities aren’t valued.

If anyone was thinking of coming to the centre I’d say Come. Come and give it ago. It’s full of open hearted people. It’s a lovely community like an extended family.”

You don’t need to wear tie dye, burn joss-ticks or sit cross legged, you just need to come and see.”
