People often ask why the same kind of pain keeps showing up wearing different faces.
Why does one emotionally unavailable partner leave, only for another to arrive with a different name but the same wound?
Because patterns do not repeat to punish you.
They repeat to teach you.

Grounding is not just about calming down. It is about remembering your place in the living world. It is the act of returning your spirit, your mind, and your body back into relationship with the Earth.
In traditional shamanic practice, grounding is often done before healing, journeying, readings, or any spiritual work so that you are clear, protected, and fully present.

Tʜᴇ Rᴏᴏᴛ ᴛᴏ Eᴀʀᴛʜ Pʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴄᴇ

1. Stand barefoot if possible, preferably on natural ground such as grass, soil, or stone. If indoors, stand firmly with both feet flat on the floor.
2. Close your eyes.
3. Take three slow breaths. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.
4. Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your lower belly.
5. Feel your body. Not your thoughts. Your body.
6. Imagine roots growing from the soles of your feet deep into the Earth.
7. See these roots moving down through soil, stone, water, and ancient layers of the land.
8. Visualise them wrapping into the deep steady heart of the Earth.
9. Say quietly or aloud:
“I return what is not mine.
I call back what is mine.
I stand in my own energy.
I am held by the Earth.”
10. Stay here for a few moments and allow yourself to be still.
11. If your mind is busy, do not fight it. Let the Earth hold it.
12. Imagine golden Earth energy rising back up through your roots, through your feet, through your legs, filling your body with steadiness and calm.
13. Thank the Earth.
14. Open your eyes slowly.
A Simple Daily Grounding Ritual
15. Carry a small stone in your pocket.
16. Each time you touch it, let it remind you:
Slow down.
Come back.
Breathe.
Return to yourself.

Cleansing is not about removing bad energy. It is about restoring balance, clearing heaviness, and returning yourself to your natural state of harmony.
In traditional shamanic practice, cleansing is done before healing, readings, rituals, journeying, or after difficult interactions, emotional heaviness, illness, or being in dense environments.
It is a way of releasing what does not belong to you and strengthening your own energetic field.

Tʜᴇ Sᴍᴏᴋᴇ ᴀɴᴅ Bʀᴇᴀᴛʜ Cʟᴇᴀɴsɪɴɢ Pʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴄᴇ

1. Find a quiet space where you will not be disturbed.
2. If appropriate, use sacred herbs such as rosemary, mugwort, cedar, or ethically sourced sage. If you do not use smoke, breath and intention are enough.
3. Light your chosen herb safely, or simply stand with your hands over your heart.
4. Close your eyes and take three slow breaths. In through your nose and out through your mouth.
5. Set your intention clearly:
“I release what is heavy.
I return what is not mine.
I welcome clarity, peace, and my own true energy.”
6. If using smoke, gently guide the smoke around your body, starting at your feet and moving upward. Pay attention to the heart, hands, head, and back of the neck.
7. If not using smoke, use your hands to brush down your body from head to feet, as though clearing away old energy.
8. Breathe deeply and imagine any heaviness leaving your body and returning to the Earth for transformation.
9. Ask your spirit, ancestors, or the Earth to help restore balance and protection.
10. Stand still for a few moments and notice how your body feels.
11. Thank the herbs, the Earth, and the unseen help around you.
12. Open your eyes and drink a glass of water to complete the practice.
A Simple Daily Cleansing Ritual
13. Wash your hands slowly under cool running water.
14. As the water moves over your skin, say quietly:
“What is mine stays.
What is not mine leaves.”
15. Let the day soften and return to yourself.
This is quiet medicine.

We live in a world that teaches people healing must be bought. That wellness comes in bottles, prescriptions, appointments, and expensive solutions outside of ourselves. But some of the strongest anti inflammatory medicine available to you has been within you, and around you, all along.

Your body is not separate from your emotions, your environment, or your relationships. You are not just flesh and bone moving through life. You are nervous system, energy, chemistry, memory, connection, and response.

Every thought, every deep breath, every safe embrace, every genuine laugh, every moment of peace sends signals through your body. Your healing is not always found in something you add. Sometimes it is found in what you return to.

j̲o͟y̲ i͟ꜱ a͟n͟t͟i͟ i͟n͟f͟l͟a͟m͟m͟a͟t͟o͟r͟y̲

Joy is not childish. It is biological medicine.

When you laugh deeply, dance freely, feel wonder, or experience genuine happiness, your body shifts. Positive emotional states help lower cortisol, regulate the nervous system, and reduce inflammatory responses in the body.

Research in psychoneuroimmunology shows that positive emotions are associated with lower levels of inflammatory cytokines and better immune function. Studies on laughter have also demonstrated reduced stress hormones and improved immune response after genuine laughter (Berk et al., 1989; Steptoe et al., 2008).

Joy is not a luxury. It is regulation.

Rest is not laziness. Rest is repair.

During sleep, the body clears waste from the brain, regulates hormones, lowers cortisol, restores the nervous system, and repairs tissue. Sleep is when the body does some of its deepest healing work.

Chronic sleep deprivation increases inflammatory markers such as C reactive protein and interleukin 6. The glymphatic system, which helps clear toxins from the brain, is most active during sleep (Xie et al., 2013; Irwin & Opp, 2017).

Exhaustion is not a badge of honour. Rest is medicine.

n͟a͟t͟u͟r͟e͟ i͟ꜱ a͟n͟t͟i͟ i͟n͟f͟l͟a͟m͟m͟a͟t͟o͟r͟y̲

Nature regulates what modern life dysregulates.

Spending time around trees, open skies, water, birdsong, and natural spaces lowers blood pressure, reduces cortisol, calms the nervous system, and improves immune function.

Studies on forest bathing, known as shinrin yoku, show measurable reductions in stress hormones and improved natural killer cell activity after time spent in forests. Your nervous system was designed in nature, not in constant overstimulation (Park et al., 2010; Li, 2010).

Sometimes healing looks like taking your shoes off and standing on the earth.

Sometimes healing sounds like your own voice.

Humming stimulates the vagus nerve, one of the most important pathways of your parasympathetic nervous system. This helps move the body out of survival mode and back into safety.

Vagus nerve stimulation has been shown to reduce inflammation through what is called the cholinergic anti inflammatory pathway. Slow breathing, chanting, humming, and vibration all support vagal tone and nervous system regulation (Tracey, 2002; Porges, 2007).

Something as simple as humming in the car can be nervous system medicine.

ꜱu͟n͟l͟i͟g̲h͟t͟ i͟ꜱ a͟n͟t͟i͟ i͟n͟f͟l͟a͟m͟m͟a͟t͟o͟r͟y̲

Your body was designed to meet the sun.

Morning sunlight helps regulate circadian rhythm, supports serotonin production, improves sleep quality, and triggers vitamin D synthesis. Vitamin D directly supports immune health and inflammatory balance.

Low vitamin D levels are strongly associated with higher inflammation and poorer immune regulation. Natural light exposure also improves hormonal balance and mood (Holick, 2007; Cannell et al., 2008).

Sunlight is not indulgence. It is biology.

h͟u͟g̲g̲i͟n͟g̲ i͟ꜱ a͟n͟t͟i͟ i͟n͟f͟l͟a͟m͟m͟a͟t͟o͟r͟y̲

Safe touch changes chemistry.

A genuine hug can lower cortisol, reduce blood pressure, slow heart rate, and increase oxytocin, the hormone connected to bonding, trust, and emotional safety.

Research shows affectionate touch improves resilience to stress and supports immune health. Human connection itself is strongly linked to lower inflammatory burden and longer life expectancy (Light et al., 2005; Cohen et al., 2015).

Touch is not weakness. It is nervous system safety.

Gratitude changes the body, not just the mind.

Research in neuroscience shows gratitude strengthens pathways linked to emotional regulation, wellbeing, and resilience. What you repeatedly focus on shapes your brain chemistry and your physiology (Emmons & McCullough, 2003; Mills et al., 2015).

Gratitude does not ignore pain. It simply refuses to let pain be the only voice.

Thyme has always been more than a herb. I have held a long relationship with this plant spirit and I have always found her to be gentle but powerful. She is an ally for me when assisting in healing women’s health in particular.

Spirit Animal Message: Camel

There is a quiet strength rising within you that does not need to prove itself to anyone.

Like the camel, you are being asked to trust in your ability to endure without losing yourself in the process. You have carried much, more than most people will ever see. Responsibilities, emotions, expectations, silence. And yet you are still here.

The camel does not rush. It does not panic when the landscape looks barren. It knows that what it needs is already stored within. This is your reminder that you are not empty. You are resourced. You are prepared. You have gathered wisdom from every step you have taken.

Right now, you may feel like you are moving through a dry season. Things may feel slow, uncertain, or stripped back. But this is not punishment. This is refinement.

The camel walks through the desert not because it is lost, but because it knows the way through what others would fear.

Thyme has always been more than a herb. I have held a long relationship with this plant spirit and I have always found her to be gentle but powerful. She is an ally for me when assisting in healing women’s health in particular.

As you do this say I soften what I am holding
Repeat this slowly allowing different feelings or thoughts to come into awareness
Imagine anything that feels tight or held within you beginning to loosen and soften
When you feel ready place your hands over your heart
Take one final breath and allow yourself to feel a sense of ease
