🧡 Sun☀️Salutation (Surya Namaskar in Sanskrit) is a 12 step yoga sequence that flows through various poses like; forward bend, back bend, downward dog and lunges.

🧡 There are many different variations of it. Some are easy and some more advanced.
It is a full body experience that builds strength, flexibility and enhances blood circulation ❤️

🧡 It is energising and calming. 🧘‍♀️It acts as a hormone balancer and a moving meditation that actively reduces the body’s primary stress hormone, cortisol, while stimulating “feel-good” hormones.

Yoga brings many health benefits like an increase in energy, strength, freedom in joints, while reducing stress and anxiety. Practicing yoga regularly retrains your brain to become more self-aware. This helps to create healthy habits.

Beginners and advanced yogis are welcome. It’s a Hatha style of yoga. It’s a gentle and slow paced class. A perfect way to begin a Monday or Thursday morning and to feel good.

In yoga the elements are qualities of energy that we may experience in our bodies and in the world around us. They are Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Space (Ether). They are found in the ancient yoga texts and also in the traditional medicine of India, Ayurveda.

Being in touch with these elements can help to notice where there may be imbalances and then to restore harmony.

Fire energy is located in the solar plexus area of the body. It’s your digestive fire or ‘agni’. It’s a transformative energy; creating energy for food and the air we breathe and also helping us digest the world around us. This can be information, feelings, relationships, sights, sounds and stories. It’s our Inner fire, our will power and determination.

When the Fire element is in balance there is a lot of motivation, discernment and courage. When it is out of balance there may be anger, burnout and frustration.

Yoga that focuses on the solar plexus area helps restore harmony.

~ Having a regular yoga practice helps to deal with the ups and downs of life. It brings greater awareness to your reactions within your nervous system. Perhaps you are tensing up in the shoulders and jaw and don't realise it. Yoga is an opportunity to check in with yourself and come back to peace. The more you practice the easier it is to find this calm, centred state.

~ Yoga helps to build strength in a gentle, steady way. It only takes 6 weeks to build real strength in the body. Weight bearing poses and balances are key to a yoga practice.

~ You don't have to be flexible to practice yoga. There are many options, you can just meet yourself where you are. Consistent practice will inevitably bring more mobility into your joints.
