Hello 👋🏼 if you’re new here (or you forgot why you followed me) 😘

I’m Paula. I teach yoga, movement and mindfulness for people with busy minds, tired bodies and zero interest in perfection. 😝

🌟 A little heads-up about how I use social media:

balance for me doesn’t include spending loads of time here.

I’m not anti-social media — I’m just intentional about where my energy goes. 💫

Most of my teaching, sharing and rambling happens in my weekly newsletter, not on Instagram.

That’s where I talk honestly about movement, rest, stress, self-kindness, running a small business, and how I try (and often fail) to practise what I teach. ⚖️✨

JOMO: the most empowering words you’ll hear today 💪🏼

This week in class we’ve been celebrating JOMO — the joy of missing out.

The joy of saying no thanks ❌

The joy of choosing what actually supports you, and of letting your boundaries be strong, clear and guilt-free. 😌

There’s real confidence in recognising what you need and honouring it — whether that’s rest, strength, space, or simply not doing the thing everyone else is doing. 🥂

And the best bit?

You don’t have to apologise for your choices.

You get to enjoy them. 🥳

This might not be the prettiest three-course meal you’ve seen on your feed today…

But before you judge me, allow me a moment to defend my mishmash masterpiece. 😝

We’ve got all the major food groups accounted for:

✨ Protein from the Greek yoghurt (full-fat, obvs).

✨ Healthy fats from olive oil, nuts and seeds.

✨ Carbs courtesy of my trusty sourdough.

✨ And fruit & veg galore — about five portions in the super-green powder, banana and pineapple smoothie, plus an apple and a handful of mixed berries.

Would I recommend eating like this every day? 🤔 Erm… no. Not really.

It’s not perfect. It’s not pretty. 🫣 But it is a real example of my no-time-to-cook-but-still-want-to-cover-all-the-bases kind of meal.

A little messy, a little random, and doing a good-enough job for a busy Tuesday. 👍🏼

💪 Six-Pack by Christmas?

I’ve set myself a little challenge: a six-pack by Christmas! 💪🏼😝

I tell women all the time how important strength training is… but if I’m totally honest, I don’t do enough myself. 😬

I am aiming for a six-pack — but honestly, I couldn’t care less whether I actually get hard-as-nails abs! 😝

The real goal is staying consistent, moving, and having fun along the way. Midlife strength isn’t about aesthetics — it’s about being healthy and well. 😎

So… our holiday to Italy got cancelled by the airline 🙄

I felt sad 😢
Went for a walk 🚶🏼‍♀️
Ate ice cream 🍦
Cried in the shower 😭
Felt guilty for being ‘dramatic’ 🫣
Cried some more 😆
Finally booked a new holiday (see pics!) 🥳

A few people told me to “look on the bright side” — and while I know it came from a kind place, it made me realise how often we rush to fix emotions instead of feeling them.

Here’s what I’ve learned (again):

💛 All emotions are valid.
💛 Mindfulness helps us notice and process them.
💛 It’s okay to cry over cancelled holidays.
💛 We’re rarely alone in how we feel.

We can make meditation so complicated sometimes — mantras, visualisations, manifestations, mala beads… all brilliant tools, but sometimes all we really need is a smile.

Let an easy smile spread across your face — then your heart — then your whole body. 🫶🏼

That’s it. You’re meditating. ✨

A smile really can shift your whole day — from the inside out.
