What has a picture of sunshine got to do with cooking? Who knows, but there was a good deal of singing about the sunshine today..and why not!?

A great day of team cooking..a group effort of making a roast dinner this morning, then chicken, bacon and veg pie and oaty crumble in the afternoon..
Using the chicken and leftover veg for our stock, it was both satisfying in flavour, and using our leftovers brings joy too...

Lots of sharing of ideas and techniques (and songs!)..plus recognising the group is way more than cooking: it's great for mental health, it's fun, it's educational, and it's holistic...it's a little bit of sunshine in a rainy day..

"This group is good for my depression. It has helped me a lot; I love the cooking and the food and health bits ; but also the group and the laughs. I look forward to my Thursdays.."

Now a break for Easter, ahead of some training..
Well done Wonky Chefs! Pasg Hapus Pawb ❤️🌞🌟🥕

A great bit of cooking from 2 young people at Youthshedz, followed by hearing Vicky's talk about the Ark of the Covenant, plus her story of becoming a Christian...

A great Wonky Carrot Cooking session this week..

Its Food Waste Action Week... a challenge to organise foods and plan balanced dishes using food sourced via a food collection point plus 'knock off' ingredients....and there were some super tasty creations from the group...cabbage parcels with fragrant chicken and veg filling, a tin of luncheon meat turned into a tasty bolognese sauce, some fishy pasta dishes, crisp coated chicken..and Banana Bread with some very black bananas...

Plus the afternoon group prepared Chinese chicken, using store cupboard staples like ketchup and vinegar in the sauce..remindung us to use what we have in the cupboards before we go out and buy a sachet..saving on waste and cost!

🌶 putting learning into practise
🫛trying new foods ( couscous, pakchoi, luncheon meat and peaches )
🍊creating balanced tasty meals on a budget
🥝helping each other
