Today is - an important day on The Fast 800 calendar that reminds us of our mission.

In 2012, our co-founder, the late Dr Michael Mosley, was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes — the same disease that took his father’s life. As a doctor, Michael believed his health was under control, but this diagnosis was a wake-up call 🩺

Michael began researching how food and fasting affect blood sugar and metabolism, discovering intermittent fasting and going on to develop the ‘5:2™ diet’.

After following this diet for just 12 weeks, Michael lost nearly 20lb (9kg) and completely reversed his diabetes.

This first-hand experience inspired him to dedicate his life to making better health achievable for everyone. Since developing The Fast 800 programme, over 130,000 people have completed the 12-week course — many reversing diabetes and living without diabetes medication, just as Michael did ❤️

Our fathers, partners, brothers and friends are facing a health crisis, yet it’s rarely talked about. Men are dying on average 4.5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. But by giving men the facts about their health, we can change behaviour for the better.

Five things men should know and do when it comes to their health:

1. Spend time with people who make you feel good
2. Talk, more
3. Know the numbers
4. Know thy nuts 😉
5. Move, more

Check out https://uk.movember.com/about/cause for lots more information and resources to support you or the men in your life to live better, longer.

💜 Happy World Menopause Day! 💜

Each year, on World Menopause Day, we shine the spotlight on the challenges facing women during the menopause transition and highlight improvements in research, education and support.

Menopause is not a disease, but it can bring symptoms and health risks that need personalised care. There is strong evidence that shows lifestyle medicine – healthy eating, regular activity, good sleep, emotional wellbeing and supportive relationships – can make a real difference. Together with other evidence-based treatments when needed, these approaches give women the tools to make informed choices and feel strong and well through this stage of life.
