💧Every system in your body needs water to function. Water:

▫️Helps your body maintain a normal temperature.
▫️Keeps your heart pumping.
▫️Protects your spinal cord and sensitive tissues.
▫️Helps you get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements.

In addition, water is important to:
▫️Keep your skin healthy and hydrated.
▫️Maximise physical performance.

To stay healthy and hydrated, try to drink at least nine to 13 cups of water a day. Water is the best fluid you can drink because it contains zero calories and no sugar.

Drinking water can even help you control your weight. However, if you don’t drink enough, you can become unwell. This is called dehydration, and even mild dehydration can affect your physical and mental performance 🧘‍♀️

If you have any concerns about your health, you can arrange for a private ultrasound scan at Harley Street Ultrasound. Get in touch to find out how we can help 📲

🏃‍♀️ We all know that physical fitness is important. A healthy body can prevent conditions such as heart disease or diabetes and help us stay younger.

But mental fitness is just as important as physical fitness. You should include mental exercises in your routine to have a sharper mind and a healthier body for years to come.

Let’s see if you know the answer to this riddle. Write your reply in the comments below 👇🏻

🤰No matter how many books we read on parenting, we all know it's no walk in the park. You constantly worry about them, how they may feel, how they may be coping and most importantly, their health.

As we all tend to lead busy lives, when it comes to what's considered as a "non-essential appointment" it's easy to delay them or cancel them altogether.

👩🏻‍⚕️ From the years of experience, a piece of advice our Doctors recommend to elevate this concern is to "switch from providing sick care to well care. With this approach to your own and your child's health, a better job can be done in catching, preventing or managing certain ailments".

Plus, this allows them to develop a positive habit of visiting the doctor and feel more comfortable with doctors, giving them the confidence to discuss any concerns they may have in the future.

So prioritise yourself and your families health schedule in regular checks every 3 - 4 months. You'll be glad you did!

🙇🏻It’s natural to feel a bit worried about your health or uneasy about going to the doctor or having a medical procedure. But for some people, the worry can take over their life or stop them from seeking medical advice when they need it. If you are concerned you have health-related anxiety, there are lots of things you can do to help yourself.

Try to overcome your fear using these strategies👇🏻

✔️If you’re worried about a lack of control, you could take someone with you to your appointment. Not only will a friend or family member help to distract and comfort you, but they serve as an extra pair of eyes and ears to take in information that you might miss.

✔️If it’s the doctor you’re worried about, ask to see another doctor or another medical professional at your GP surgery, such as a nurse practitioner.

✔️If you’re upset because you fear the unknown, call the doctor’s clinic and speak to the receptionist or secretary. Ask what will happen at your appointment and what tests and examinations you can expect.

✔️If you need to make an appointment, choose a time that’s good for you. Avoid times when you know you’ll feel stressed.

✔️If you know you will get anxious when waiting for your appointment, keep your mind occupied by taking an activity with you. You could take a book, magazine, puzzle, knitting or headphones for your phone so you can listen to soothing music or a podcast.

Here at Harley Street Ultrasound, our consultants will do all they can to put your mind at ease during your appointment. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to get in touch 📲

Many people associate ultrasound imaging with pregnancy. However, ultrasound can also help examine the solid organs, as well as muscles and soft tissues.

With an ultrasound, the patient is not exposed to any harmful radiation in the way they would be with an X-ray. In addition, the scan is quick, painless, non-invasive, and can take place in various healthcare settings outside the hospital with near instant results. This makes ultrasound an excellent tool for detecting life-threatening illnesses, such as 👇🏻

1. Liver & Gallbladder disease or lesions
2. Features of Cancer or evidence of spread
3. Ectopic Pregnancies
4. Kidney Obstruction

Ultrasound scans can detect many conditions in the human body and capture images of certain soft-tissue diseases that are harder to assess with an X-ray. They can also help to put your mind at ease. If you would like to arrange an ultrasound scan with a highly trained specialist consultant, get in touch with us 📲

You wouldn’t be human if you didn’t let yourself go, at least a little bit, over the holiday season 🥳

But just as the time comes to take down the decorations, so does the time come to be healthier. Otherwise, your health is at risk. So, if you’re feeling the effects of excess over Christmas and New Year, here are three tips on how to get in shape after the holidays👇🏻

1. Find an Activity That’s Fun
If you combine exercise with a healthier diet, you’ll soon notice that you feel better, have more energy, and you’re losing weight. Exercise also has positive effects on mental health since it boosts your mood and reduces your risk of stress and depression.

2. Dedicate Time to Your Mental Health
Getting in shape after the holidays isn’t just about losing weight and getting fit. You should also consider your mental health, especially after all the stress of Christmas.

3.It’s Time to Get into Shape
If you want to get in shape after the holidays, start by rethinking what you’re eating and drinking. Make an effort to reduce or cut out alcohol and processed foods, drink more water, and eat more fruits and vegetables. You also need to get active to improve your cardio health and exercise to tone your muscles.

👫Breasts in men and women are the same. Human breasts in both sexes have ni***es, fatty tissue, breast cells and ducts.

Breast cancer in men is less common than in women because although the breast tissue in both are similar, male breast tissue is mainly fat and fibrous tissue called stroma, and they have fewer ducts and lobules.

Though the most common breast symptoms can be found in both women and men.

They can be found in one or both sides of breast tissue and include:
- A lump in the chest/breast area or your armpit
- Pain/tenderness around the ni**le
- Swelling of the chest around the ni**le

The safest and non-invasive test to look at these symptoms is an ultrasound for both men and women. At Harley Street Ultrasound, we provide Breast Ultrasounds for men and women at our conveniently located clinic in the heart of London.

Don't be discouraged from getting your breasts checked. Please book online or call us today 📲
