Most people think of compassion as a feeling.
But today on the Mindfulness Teacher Training Course, Christopher Titmuss shared something much deeper:
“Compassion is not a feeling. It is an action to end suffering.”
Compassion is not passive. It is not simply feeling sorry for ourselves or others.
Sometimes, compassion looks like kindness. Sometimes deep listening. Sometimes honesty. Sometimes boundaries. Sometimes courage.
The real question is not only: “What do I feel?”
But also: “How do I respond to suffering in a way that lessens it?”
A reflection for today: How does compassion translate into action in your own life?
