There’s a version of “finding your voice” that makes it sound like one big moment.
Like you suddenly become confident and start speaking up everywhere.

But in reality, it’s usually quieter than that.

It’s the moment you realise your perspective carries weight.
It’s contributing to a conversation you would have stayed silent in before.
It’s recognising that what you see every day gives you insight others don’t have.

Finding your voice isn’t solely about being heard but also about knowing you have something worth hearing.

And that understanding often grows gradually, through experience, reflection, and small moments of courage.

Right now, where you are in your career
What does “having a voice” feel like to you?

As demand for Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training continues to grow, many employers are choosing to build internal training capacity through the Train-the-Trainer pathway.

This programme supports organisations to develop selected staff to deliver Oliver McGowan Tier training internally, aligned with national standards and long-term workforce planning.

Please note:
While Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff training is eligible for funding, the Train-the-Trainer pathway itself is not funded and is delivered as a self-funded strategic option.

This approach is particularly suitable for providers seeking:
• Sustainable, in-house delivery
• Reduced reliance on external trainers
• Long-term cost efficiency

If you would like to explore suitability, group sizes (up to 8 staff), timelines, or costs, please get in touch.

Delivering the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is about more than meeting a requirement. It’s about creating learning that builds understanding, confidence, and better outcomes for people with autism and learning disabilities.

As part of ongoing work to strengthen training quality and workforce development across health and social care, the Oliver McGowan Training Delivery Tour will run across key UK cities in 2026, led by expert facilitators alongside autism and learning disability co-trainers with lived experience.

For Black women working across the sector, this is a valuable opportunity to deepen professional expertise, strengthen training delivery skills, and engage with learning that centres real lived experience and practical impact.

Across the tour, participants will:
▫️ Learn best-practice approaches to delivering Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training
▫️ Understand how to embed lived experience meaningfully within training sessions
▫️ Build confidence as facilitators and co-trainers
▫️ Strengthen CQC-ready, inspection-aligned training delivery
▫️ Connect with professionals across health and social care

Tour Dates:
Northampton | 4-5 February
Liverpool | 11-13 February
Northampton | 16-17 February

Care leaders don’t burn out because they can’t lead.
They burn out because they carry too much for too long.

What January requires is for you to be clear.

Clear on:
• What truly matters now
• What can wait
• What you no longer need to carry alone

Our January webinar is designed to help care leaders stabilise first, then lead forward.

If January feels heavy, this session is for you.

Too often, Black women in health and social care are reduced to a single label, even when our roles and expertise go far beyond that.

BWIC exists to hold space for the full range of who we are professionally (nurses, clinicians, social workers, trainers, consultants, policy professionals, and more.)

If you’re looking for a community where your work, identity, and growth are understood, BWIC is that space.

January is not failing you.
It’s revealing where leadership pressure has been sitting quietly.

For many care managers, January brings:
• Staffing gaps
• Compliance catch-up
• Decision fatigue
• Little emotional space for "big vision"

So this year, we’re starting differently.
Instead of pushing long-term planning too early, we’re beginning with stabilisation and clarity.

That’s why we’re launching...
Reset, Regain & Lead: The First 90 Days for Care Managers

This is about regaining leadership control, not doing more.

Date: 29th January 2026
Time: 1pm - 2:30pm
Location: Live on Zoom

FREE for BWIC Members
Non-members: £30
Registration is ongoing, see link in Bio

At the Care Legacy Awards by BWIC, Our guest speakers shared stories, lessons, and perspectives that resonated deeply with our community.
Not just speeches, but reflections of real journeys in health and social care.

We’re grateful for the voices that shaped this moment and the women who listened, connected, and felt seen.

Our thanks to the incredible speakers who led these conversations and shared their truth
