🍭✨ A Roald Dahl Day of Pure Imagination ✨🍭
To celebrate Roald Dahl’s birthday, our residents enjoyed a trip straight out of a storybook,
a visit to Mr Simm’s Olde Sweet Shoppe. With wide eyes and happy hearts, they rediscovered childhood favourites: Everton Mints, with their cool, refreshing twirl of sweetness; pear drops that pirouetted on the tongue; and sherbet lemons that fizzed and popped like tiny fireworks;
A huge thank you to David, our very own “Candy Man,” for showing us around his treasure trove of treats and sparking so many golden memories.
And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any sweeter, we entered the world of W***y Wonka himself, dipping strawberries and marshmallows into a cascading chocolate fountain — a scrumdiddlyumptious indulgence worthy of any chocolate-loving dreamer!
Much like Dahl’s stories, the day was sprinkled with Magic 🌟

🌸 Avery in Bloom 2025 🌸We are delighted to share our competition entry for this year’s Avery in Bloom: "The Enchanted Sonata is a miniature garden, where a grand piano is hidden deep in the mountains, waiting for its pianist to bring music to the forest."
The project has given our residents great pleasure, from planning and shaping the display to enjoying the finished result. It has sparked conversation, imagination, and a real sense of achievement.

Our residents were excited – from reliving racing days as a rally driver to sharing proud memories of designing and building jet engines for Rolls-Royce. The stories, laughter, and a delicious picnic made it a special outing!

An Elegant Afternoon Tea ☕
To mark Afternoon Tea Week, we enjoyed a truly delightful afternoon featuring a beautifully presented tea service — complete with delicate sandwiches, speciality teas and freshly baked scones. 🫖✨
Fiona kindly joined us to deliver a wonderfully engaging talk on the history of tea and the etiquette that makes afternoon tea such an enduring custom.
With lovely company, delicious refreshments and an atmosphere of timeless charm, it was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for everyone.

We look forward to welcoming everyone again at our next event.

Our National Book Lovers Day was a truly heart-warming tribute to stories, nostalgia and the simple joy of reading. 📚✨
Some residents enjoyed a special trip to Earlsfield Library, where Rebecca helped them sign up for new memberships – opening the door to a world of exciting reads and services.
Those who remained at the home took part in relaxed, book-themed activities, proudly sharing their favourite novels and the stories that have inspired them over the years.

From engaging discussions to touching personal memories, the day was a beautiful reminder of just how powerful and meaningful books can be.
