If you sat and thought about this logically for one minute, do you think this would actually make any sense?

* People have intolerances to food
* People can't eat certain foods for religious reasons
* People have allergic reactions to food
* People have diabetes
* People have kidney dysfunction
* People work night shifts
* People have metabolic syndrome

There are so many variables you must take into consideration when it comes to someone's diet. Giving a one size fits all approach can have severe adverse health effects.

Sadly some people get so caught up in their diet methodology that they can't see the forest for the trees.

Usually, these diets have helped the person promoting them, and said person is simply trying to help other people via this new means; however, they can often be doing more harm than good by trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Many people think that just because they have done an exercise, they should be getting a result from it.

And it is often why you see so many people rushing their exercises.

If you have smashed through a set of 10 plus reps in less than 20 seconds, the only thing you're getting from that set is you've arrived at your rest period earlier.

Take your time, own and control every segment of every repetition. Know and feel exactly which muscle/muscle groups you should be feeling.

The ex*****on of an exercise is more important than the exercise itself.

The intent of the exercise will determine the adaptation. If there is NO intent, expect NO adaptation.

There are very few principles to nutrition; however, there are many methods.

If you have a basic understanding of the principles, you can call BS on any diet.

Any diet will work for fat loss if it adheres to the first principle of calories. If you are eating less food than your body requires, you will lose weight.

It doesn't matter if it's vegan, carnivore, low carb, low fat, keto; this list could go on forever.

People who are SELLING you a specific diet are SELLING you a diet, so of course, they will tell you it's brilliant.

But the ONLY reason their diet works for fat loss is that it adheres to the principles, even if they don't understand them themselves. (welcome to the internet).

Never blindly follow.

When it comes to a coach-client relationship having the confidence and trust to ask why is very important.

Everything prescribed to a client SHOULD have a reason, and that reason should be able to be explained. "Because I said so", isn't an explanation.

I love it when a client asks ‘why’ because it allows me to sharpen my sword. The more I get to explain something, the better I get at explaining it.

Not everyone is going to understand the same way. So the more times you can draw different analogies or correlate something to something they know, the better you will learn it, and therefore the better coach you become.

Also having a client ask why means, they are interested in what has been prescribed, which will lead to more buy-in, which will hopefully lead to a more significant change.

Training and nutrition are entirely different things.

People who spout the 80/20 rule clearly don't understand physiology. One drives a stimulus (training), and the other drives an adaptation (nutrition).

Who cares if your nutrition is on point when your training sucks ass, you won't be creating enough of a demand from the body to create a meaningful change.

Both training and nutrition have to be 100% to get outstanding results.

There is an abundance of very interesting looking exercises and exercise routines circulating the internet at the moment.

Just because it looks intricate and challenging doesn't mean it will benefit you any more than a simpler exercise.

Resistance training develops motor neuron pathways that enhance your brain-body coordination during movements. If you can't perform the fundamental movement patterns; lunge, squat, hinge, press, row, rotate, correctly under comfortable conditions.

Then it would be best if you weren't standing on a Bosu ball, or stringing multiple complex exercises together in a row.

Merely doing the movements helps, but to gain proficiency with the patterns as quickly as possible, your practice needs to be intense and purposeful to cement the skills and keep bad habits from developing.

The best gains in muscle and strength, increases in power and mobility all come from the basics.

Don't complicate things; stick to what works, and what works are the basics.

Don't be reactive.

Being proactive, whether it is getting your blood work done, hiring a health coach, sorting your finances, whatever it is, it is always better to pre-empt the situation than having to react to a disaster.

The deeper I get into working with clients on their blood work, the more I realise how much things can be prevented.

Being proactive is the name of the game; if you can help mitigate issues before they arise, you will be one step ahead.

This goes for all areas of life; however, it is pertinent to health and fitness.
