Weekly Calm Tip 6
Sometimes anxiety doesn’t start with thoughts.
It starts in the body, tight chest, shallow breathing, restlessness, before the mind catches up.

When this happens, don’t try to “think yourself calm.”

Instead, try this:
• Gently press your feet into the floor
• Let your exhale be a little longer than your inhale
• Quietly say to yourself:
“My body can settle first. My mind will follow.”

You don’t need to understand the anxiety to calm it.
You just need to give your nervous system permission to slow down.

Calm often begins in the body, not the head.

Weekly Calm Tip #5

If you’re feeling mentally overloaded right now, pause and ask yourself this:

“What actually needs my attention today and what can wait?”

An anxious mind treats everything as urgent.
A calm mind learns to sort.

Try this:
• Pick one small, manageable task
• Do it slowly, without multitasking
• Let that be enough for now

Calm doesn’t come from doing more.
It comes from doing less — with presence.

Take a breath. You’re not behind.

🌿 Weekly Calm Tip #4 — A Softer Start to the New Year

The New Year often comes with quiet pressure to fix, improve, or push forward.
For an anxious nervous system, that pressure can feel overwhelming.

Try this instead:

Take one slow breath and say to yourself:

“Nothing needs to be forced right now.
Small, steady steps are enough.”

Then ask:
What would feel supportive today, not productive, not perfect, just supportive?

Calm doesn’t come from doing more.
It comes from letting your system settle before you decide what’s next.

This year doesn’t need a dramatic reset.
It can begin with steadiness.

I’m not good enough” is one of the quietest yet most damaging stories we tell ourselves. It doesn’t shout, it whispers, and over time it shapes how we move through the world. It leads us to overthink, people-please, shrink our dreams, delay opportunities, and search constantly for evidence that we’re falling short, even when we’re doing our best.

This mindset keeps us trapped in comparison, exhaustion, and self-doubt, not because we lack ability, but because we’ve learned to measure our worth against impossible standards.

The way forward isn’t becoming “more” or fixing yourself. It’s noticing the story when it appears and gently questioning it. Ask yourself: Whose voice is this, really?

Begin replacing perfection with progress, self-criticism with self-compassion, and approval-seeking with self-trust. You don’t loosen this mindset by proving it wrong every day, you loosen its grip by choosing to act, speak, and live as if you are already enough.

Because you are, even on the days your mind tells you otherwise.

🌿 Weekly Calm Tip #3 — When Christmas Feels Like Too Much

The Christmas period can quietly overload the nervous system. #
Expectations, family dynamics, extra tasks, noise, travel, even nice things can create stress.

When you start to feel overwhelmed, try this simple reset:
• Put both feet on the floor
• Let your shoulders drop slightly
• Take one slow breath in through your nose
• Exhale a little longer than you inhale

Then say quietly to yourself:

“Nothing needs fixing right now.
I can slow this moment down.”

You don’t need to solve everything today.
You just need to settle your system in this moment.

Calm is still available, even during Christmas.

Weekly Calm Tip #2 — The “Name & Soften” Trick

When a wave of anxiety comes up, most people either fight it or get swept away by it.
There’s a gentler option.

Step 1 – Name it softly
In your mind, say:

“This is just anxiety. A feeling. It will pass.”

You’re reminding your brain this is a pattern, not a crisis.

Step 2 – Soften one place in your body
Choose just one area (jaw, shoulders or hands) and let it soften by 5%.
Not completely relaxed, just a little softer.

When you soften one part of the body, the mind gets the message:

“We are safe enough to let go, just a little.”

Try this next time you feel a rush of anxiety:
Name it. Soften one place. Breathe.
You’re teaching your nervous system a new, calmer pattern.

🌿 Weekly Calm Tip, something I’ll be sharing here regularly

Calm Tip #1 — The 10-Second Reset

When your mind starts to spiral, don’t argue with the thoughts.
Don’t analyse them.
Don’t try to fix them.

Give your mind a new instruction.

Take one slow breath and say quietly (or in your mind):

“Scan for danger.
If there is none, I calm.”

This pattern interrupts anxiety fast, because you’re giving your subconscious a clear, simple job.

Try it at least once today.
Your mind learns quickly when the instruction is calm and direct.

Are You Silently Running from Your Pain?

Sometimes we tell ourselves we’re just busy, tired, or distracted. But deep down, something feels off.

Maybe you throw yourself into work, say yes to everything, or keep your schedule packed just to avoid a moment of stillness. Maybe it’s mindless scrolling, binge-watching, emotional eating, or using humor to mask the pain. That’s called trauma blocking—a way of protecting yourself from feelings you’re not ready to face.

But burying your pain doesn’t make it go away. It just shows up in other ways—like anxiety, burnout, overthinking, or feeling emotionally numb.

Healing starts with noticing. Pause and ask yourself:
• What am I running from?
• What would happen if I slowed down and just felt for a moment?
• What do I truly need right now?

You don’t have to face it all at once. Healing isn’t about reliving the past; it’s about giving yourself permission to sit with your truth, one small step at a time.

If you’ve been trauma blocking, be gentle with yourself. You’re not broken—you’re just protecting yourself the best way you know how. When you’re ready, you can choose a path that leads to healing instead of hiding.

Have you noticed yourself trauma blocking? What does it look like for you? Share your thoughts—I’d love to hear from you. 💛

If Your Feelings Could Speak… Would You Listen?

What if your emotions had a voice? What if anxiety whispered, “I just want you to feel safe,” or sadness said, “I need you to slow down and feel.” What if anger admitted, “I’m protecting your boundaries.”

Too often, we ignore or suppress our emotions instead of seeing them as messengers. But what if, instead of pushing them away, we got curious? What if we listened and asked, “What are you trying to tell me?”

Your feelings aren’t your enemy—they’re guides. They remind you that you’re alive, that you care, and that something within you needs to be understood.

If your emotions could speak today, what would they say? And more importantly, will you listen? 💛

Why Conversations Fail (and How to Fix Them)

Conversations don’t fail because of words—they fail because emotions take over too fast.

Reacting without thinking leads to:
❌ Talking over someone instead of listening
❌ Dismissing feelings or responding with blame
❌ Avoiding tough conversations or trying to “win” the argument
❌ Focusing on minor details instead of the real issue

The result? More conflict, less understanding.

But staying calm changes everything.
✔️ It helps others feel heard
✔️ It keeps you in control
✔️ It leads to real solutions

Disagreements aren’t failures—they’re turning points. The right words can open doors, build trust, and create real change.

Staying calm during tough conversations isn’t always easy, but it makes all the difference. Visualisation can help rewire negative thought patterns, reduce emotional triggers, and improve communication skills—so conversations become opportunities for connection instead of conflict.

What’s one thing that helps you handle tough conversations better? Let’s share and learn from each other! 💬💛

Navigating Grief Amidst Recent Events in Israel

The recent return of deceased hostages has deeply affected our community, intensifying feelings of grief, anger, and profound sadness. In these challenging times, it’s essential to acknowledge and process our emotions authentically.

Understanding Toxic Positivity

While maintaining hope is vital, we must be cautious of toxic positivity—the insistence on a positive outlook regardless of circumstances. Phrases like “Stay positive” or “Everything happens for a reason” can unintentionally invalidate genuine feelings of sorrow and loss.

Why Authentic Emotional Expression Matters
• Validates Real Experiences: Recognizing our pain honors the experiences of those we’ve lost and our journey through grief.
• Facilitates Healing: Processing emotions, rather than suppressing them, is crucial for mental health and recovery.
• Strengthens Community Bonds: Sharing our true feelings fosters deeper connections and mutual support.

Supporting Each Other
• Offer Empathy: Listen without judgment. Sometimes, a compassionate presence is more comforting than words.
• Encourage Open Expression: Let others know it’s okay to feel and express their emotions fully.
• Provide Safe Spaces: Create environments where sharing feelings is met with understanding and care.

In honoring our authentic emotions, we not only support our healing but also pay tribute to those we’ve lost. Let’s stand together, embracing the full spectrum of our feelings, and offer genuine compassion to ourselves and each other.

How are you coping during this time? Feel free to share your thoughts and feelings below; our community is here to support you. 💙

I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist and I integrate essential oils with my hypnosis sessions.
