Are you?
Who’s not?
It’s a strange one isn’t it? Lonely, but never alone. Craving human contact but struggling to form meaningful connections.
Loving family time but feeling claustrophobic as ‘full time’ parent.
Lockdown-time strangely reminds me of maternity leave. Long days yet great cuddles. Calm(ish) environment but chaotic mind. Desperate for some time to just be ‘me’ but conscious not to complain because we are lucky to have what we have. Wandering around exhausted, endlessly pushing the pram whilst soaking up the glorious sunshine and listening to the chorus of the birds.
It’s not surprising then, is it, that we’ve had a rush of applications for mums and mums-to-be looking for a Buddy or wanting to be a Mummy Buddy to offer friendly advice, support and connection. We hear time and time again about Mums joining apps to meet mums and finding that little friendship arises after an initial chat.
I feel very uneasy about these ‘dating for mums’ apps but maybe that’s just me. I found chit chatting with local mums was the easy bit. Finding a mum I could trust, who had just been through ‘it’ who I could bounce my millions of questions off, who’s put their hand up to say ‘I’m here if I can help with anything’ - that’s what I was looking for. And, that’s why Janey was founded, to create exactly that. Your supportive social circle.
We’ve been focusing on neatening up our daily sanity saving activities which can now all be accessed via our private Facebook group (Mummy Buddy) and on-demand via our website. Next week however we will be turning our attention to matching the backlog of Mums and Mums-to-be with their Buddy.
If it’s something that you’d like to be a part of, please visit our website and sign up. If you are a Key Worker or in receipt of universal credit just send me a message and I’ll happily offer you a FREE membership.
We can’t be social in person right now but let’s not stop socialising. We all know how beneficial it is to our mental health and general wellbeing.
Big love to everyone feeling lonely right now. We are in this together and we are here for each other. United we stand.
