I hope you are all doing ok today, but please seek help if you aren’t.
There’s no shame in finding today difficult, as so many of us do.

It might feel extra hard to reach out for help today because it’s Christmas. But please know you don’t have to face anything alone. If you’re having a hard time, we’ll face it with you. We’re here all day and night 💚

12/12/2023

I’m on LBC radio after 10pm tonight, talking about my own ADHD journey, societal stigma and the challenges of getting diagnosed as an adult.
As well as celebrities getting diagnosed!
Tune in if you can do so 🙂

Managing Seasonal Depression

Do you feel low in energy and mood at this time of year?
Maybe there's a reason for that.

Given our ADHD and lack of object permanency, you might forget about it, even if you are aware (as I do every bloomin' year until it comes to bite me on the bum in late October/early November).

That reason is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) or Seasonal Depression.

Did you know that 27% of us with ADHD also suffer from low mood and energy in the winter months?

And that if you have co-morbid depression and/or bipolar disorder too, this can rise to as much as 61% of us?

Here are some of the symptoms:
* Depressed mood
* Loss of interest
* Low energy
* Sleep issues
* Changes in appetite
* Feeling sluggish or agitated
* Difficulty concentrating
* Feeling worthless or guilty
* Social withdrawal
* Suicidal thoughts or behaviours

If several of the above are affecting you right now...there's some simple adjustments we can make to alleviate our seasonal symptoms.

(They cost pennies and don't involve jumping into an ice bath at 6am)*

*Unless that's your bag. I know there's a lot of evidence that it helps, but...erm...I'm a wuss, so...no thank you!

Join us tomorrow at either 12pm or 8pm live and let's let a little light into our lives!

Michelle :-)
