Thank you SO, so much to everyone who donated towards the GoFundMe to help Kate replace her stolen kit! There’s still a couple of items on the list to get, but we thought we’d take some pictures to show everything Kate’s got so far. The donations also helped cover the costs to replace the window that was smashed. Thank you for helping Kate continue to care for families each day! 💖

One of our incredible women sent us this photo after giving some hand expressing a try whilst watching the last England game! ⚽️ maybe England getting to the finals is helping boost oxytocin levels..✨🤭 should we be expecting a baby boom 9 months from now? 🙈

THE PLACENTA ❤️

The placenta is a temporary organ that you make with each pregnancy, connecting you with your baby 👶🏼👶🏾 It delivers nutrients to your baby and eliminates waste. It also produces hormones to sustain the pregnancy 🤰🏽and each is as unique as a fingerprint!

The delivery of the placenta is the final part of birth and often brings women a lot of relief! Part of our role as the midwife is to check the placenta, membranes and the cord to make sure it’s all complete.

These photos are of Kate explaining the placenta to Mum, Daughter and Grandma, who all wanted to touch and feel it! It’s good to think about what you may like to do with your placenta - it does belong to you after all! Here are some ideas below:

❤️ BURY IT
You could bury your placenta and plant a tree or flower over it that will grow with your baby, either in your own garden or somewhere meaningful to you.

❤️ MAKE ART
You can make art prints of your placenta, these often look like trees 🌳

❤️ EAT IT
You can have your placenta dehydrated and made into capsules or you can freeze it and add small parts to smoothies each day (Scroll to see the last picture as an example!)

❤️ DISPOSE OF IT
If you no longer want your placenta, your midwife can take it away and have it incinerated 🔥

Today we wanted to celebrate some of the incredible new Dads that we have had the pleasure of meeting and supporting through their journey to fatherhood.

One of the (many!) reasons we love working in the way we do is being able to get to know partners just as well as the women, answering all of their questions, providing reassurance for them, and watching them transition into new Dads 💕

Happy Father’s Day to all the very special Dads out there 🥰

Here’s a sneak peak inside our home birth bag! 🏡💼

We know this bag and its contents like the back of our hand, and it goes everywhere with us! We have packed and unpacked it so many times as we are always checking our equipment. We take this, along with our antenatal / postnatal bag to every homebirth 🏡
