Young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and their parents/carers are invited to attend two different events this November, focused on initiatives and activities to help prepare young people with SEND for the world of work.
There are two events, and a work experience opportunity for young people with SEND:
🗓️ Thursday 10 November
Preparing for Adulthood Strategy parent/carer workshop
📍 Sutton Council Civic Offices, St Nicholas Way SM1 1EA
⌚ 10am to 11.30am
Help us develop a new Preparing for Adulthood (PFA) Strategy, to support young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to help them prepare for life as an adult
🗓️ Thursday 24 November
Preparing for Adulthood showcase event for young people (and workshop for parent/carers)
📍 Sutton Life Centre, 24 Alcorn Close SM3 9PX
⌚ Register for one of two workshops (10.30am - 11.30am or 1.30pm - 2.30pm) or to just attend the main event
Aimed at young people with an EHC Plan (EHCP) or SEN Support plan aged 14-25, showcasing support, opportunities and local initiatives available for young people with SEND in Sutton.
We’re also looking for young people with SEND to help us design and plan the event as well as helping out on the day - people who:
✅ Like planning event content, organising surveys, marketing and promotion, organising refreshments or organising games and activities.
