How often do we care for our hair and scalp, ignoring the important element of care - a hairbrush and a comb?
The facts are that few people wash and sanitize them regularly. 😱
➡️Below you can read how to clean your hairbrush and comb and why you should do it.
👉 The hair brush / comb should be cleaned once a week. Regularly washing and disinfecting your combing utensils will not only protect your scalp from bacteria, but also make your hair look more beautiful.
❓Did you know that your daily hairbrush contains more bacteria than your sink drain? 😱 Sounds unbelievable, but it is true.
👉The brush collects not only hair, but also dust, remnants of styling cosmetics, sebum and cuticle. Such a large habitat of bacteria can cause various skin diseases, including allergies, mycoses, seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff.
👉 Brushing your hair with a dirty brush instead of improving its condition makes it greasy faster and starts looking stale.
❓ So how do you clean your hair brush / comb? It depends on the material from which they are made:
💦 1. Begin by removing any remaining hair. The easiest way to do this is when it's wet. How to do it? A narrow, dense comb or a toothpick will work best.
💦 2. A plastic brush / comb - wash with a used toothbrush with a previously prepared solution: a glass of warm water, a teaspoon of shampoo and a teaspoon of baking soda.
💦 3. If you have a natural bristle brush, use your fingers to wash the bristles with shampoo - be careful not to wet the wooden handle, because the wood does not like water. Dry the wood with a towel (you can protect the wood by rubbing it with olive oil or avocado oil), dry the bristles with a dryer.
💦 4. Remember to disinfect them regularly as the brush / comb is home to bacteria, dust and mites.
To do this, prepare:
🌱a) hydrogen peroxide - soak in the solution for 15 minutes, then rinse with water or
🌱b) water with salicylic alcohol (instruction as above) or
🌱c) vinegar (as above) or
🌱d) tea oil. This method does not require soaking the brush in water, so I recommend it to disinfect a brush with natural bristles. Add a few drops of tea oil to a glass with warm water. Pour the prepared mixture into an atomizer - you can use e.g. a flower sprinkler . Spray the brush and let it dry. Done. Bacteria don't stand a chance!
