National Stress Awareness Day • Today is Stress Awareness Day, following the conclusion of International Stress Awareness Week which looks to address the importance of supporting those that suffer, guiding those who require help to seek it from the right places, and campaign to erase the stigmas associated with stress and mental health issues around the world.
Stress can manifest in so many different ways, but learning how to cope with stress is essential for us all. Here are our four top tips to help start get your stress managed:
*Talk about it: speaking to family and friends can sometimes lessen a burden - don’t be afraid to open up to your loved ones.
*Eat healthily: your food is your fuel, so what you put inside your body has a huge impact upon your mood; the more nutritious your food the better you’ll feel.
*Move: getting your blood pumping with a walk, run, cycle or workout will get your endorphin levels raised and will help with reducing your stress levels.
*Meditate: breathing and relaxation exercises are an excellent method for many. There are some great apps out there that can guide you through the exercises too: check out Headspace or Calm (amongst others).
