• YOUR BODY KNOWS TO TAKE IT SLOW •

Have you noticed little signs within your body that show up to tell you when you are on the verge of burn out?

Ours do to!

For each of us the signs might be different, for example:

Sara gets a sore throat. She used to ignore this sign and then would fall into burnout but because she practices mindfulness, knows the importance of listening to her body and it’s signals, and prioritises her health she now knows how to prevent burnout and fatigue.

Lotti gets a cough that gets worse the longer she ignores her situation (it’s lasted almost 6 months before she built on her self awareness 😬). She has learnt to acknowledge these signals by turning her attention inwards, body scanning regularly and assessing her environment. When the tickle begins she knows to minimise her weekly schedule to help prevent burnout & prioritise her health.

• TIPS FOR QUICK MINDFUL TECHNIQUES •

~ when you’re inside or out walking feel the warmth/coolness of the air on your skin to bring you out of your thoughts and into the present moment.

~ follow along to a 2-5min breathwork video or your own mini practice if you don’t have time to roll out your mat in the morning. (Top tip: do it before you even get out of bed!)

~ Focus on each part of your foot as it makes contact with the floor as you walk to the station

~ Do a yoga/movement practice for 10-15mins to wake up your body or slow it down before bed

Lotti & Sara don’t always have time to slot in a 60min daily mindfulness practice and that is why they created and their course Ground & Grow.

They felt there wasn’t enough out there on how you can achieve great improvements to your daily health by making even the smallest changes.

It’s time to come out of our thoughts and the stories we create and start living mindfully in the present moment.

There’s so much we aren’t seeing and enjoying and it is right in front of us!

Vulnerability is often mistaken as a weakness, but it takes courage to be vulnerable and when we allow ourselves to open in this way it is actually a strength.

Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable can help us work through emotions a lot easier. It’s important for us to embrace how we feel instead of suppressing emotions, it makes us more resilient and allows us to connect with our own truth and intuition.

It’s easier to let go when we feel safe, so hold space for yourself in a way that makes you feel nurtured, seek help from a support system that make you feel seen and held, or anything else that allows you to be your full self🧡

Here at Woven Collective we try our very best to slow things right down on a Sunday..

So today’s post is all about gifting yourself the same!

Here are some of our favourite ways we achieve this for ourselves:

✨ Have a lie in

✨ Breakfast in bed

✨A duvet day in front of your favourite tv programme or film

✨ Go for a walk in the fresh air either on your own or with someone who makes you feel great

✨ Nourish the body with delicious food

✨ Have a bath with a favourite scented candle

✨Do some breathing, meditation & journaling to reflect on the week and get ready for the new one ahead

• IT’S OK TO BEGIN AGAIN •
As we approach the second half of 2022 it feels like lots of people have been struggling to maintain the goals, wishes, dreams, intentions that they set themselves at the beginning of the year - and this includes us too!

This is a post to tell you that wherever you are in your journey, and whatever it looks like today, doesn’t need to determine how the rest of your year unfolds! How great is that to know?!

Here’s a tip to get yourself back on track ✨

~ Write down the intention you’ve been struggling with and really read every word.

~ Take a step back, close your eyes and take a deep breath as you say the intention to yourself. Really feel each word as they go through you. How do they feel?

~ It might be that the intention is no longer a part of you. That’s ok! Each day we grow into a new version of ourselves so we have to be aware that things are forever changing. There’s no point forcing yourself to head towards things that no longer serve you so take this moment to alter it so it does!

~ It may be that it still feels like you want to include it in your life! If this is you then take this exercise as a mini reset button that has just been pressed. Forget about all the days that led to this point, what is important is right now. So factor in the time today to move yourself one step closer to achieving the intention and..

Lean into each moment to experience life in a more sensual way🧡

You can do this by...

✨Physically leaning into the support under your feet or behind your back, becoming more stable & grounded.

✨Checking in with how your body feels and noticing where you can feel these sensations or emotions.

✨Accepting each moment as it is and allowing yourself to experience the emotions that arise in a self-compassionate way.

✨Leaning into all 5 senses and using them to experience each moment fully.

When we lean into ourselves with more mindful awareness and presence, and take care of our own needs, our own mindset & experience, we are more able to support and empower others🧡

We thought it would be a great time to remind everyone why we think “Grounding” is an important step before “Growing”🌻

What is grounding?
A way to center within ourselves when life gets chaotic, overwhelming or just generally busy, so that we can consciously slow down and find stability in our being.

There are lots of different ways you can ground yourself to become more aware and present in the moment, like anchoring into your breath, sensing the weight of your body and the ground beneath you, or simply spending some time in nature🍃

We believe it’s important to set strong foundations before rushing into things, as it’s more likely to have long-lasting, positive affects that way! Our Ground & Grow mindfulness course is all about building and maintaining healthy habits, which is why it starts with the very basics of breath, yoga, meditation and journaling, and gradually progresses in a sustainable way🧡

Self-touch gestures, like placing one hand on your chest and/or one hand on your belly, can help when you feel stressed or ungrounded.

It’s soothing for the body and can help reduce cortisol responses to psychosocial stress - just like that feel-good feeling you may experience when you hug your loved-ones.

Giving yourself a massage is also a lovely way to bring some ease to the body through self-touch, or simply taking a moment to hug yourself is wonderful too!

Our bodies love to feel held, supported and cared for✨

• MINDFUL SENSING TIP 5/5 •

Last tip in our mindfulness sensing series is ✨taste✨

We’re definitely big foodies here at WovCol and we’re sure you are too! So here’s a friendly reminder to bring a little more mindful awareness to your next meal so that it becomes a more pleasant, sensual experience🧡

Instead of eating and scrolling or watching TV, why not try eating (or even just taking the first bite) in a more mindful way.

Let’s have a go together with your favourite drink, and we’ll also include all the other mindful sense activities we’ve been posting about:

1. Get your fav drink! Try to do this with absolute concentration on what you’re doing (mindful seeing).
2. Hold the cup in your hands and take a moment to feel the cup texture and weight, and notice the temperature of your drink (mindful touching).
3. Close your eyes and bring the drink to your nose - what can you smell? (Mindful smelling)
4. Mindfully bring the cup to your lips and take a sip - what does it taste like? (Mindful tasting)
5. Listen to the sound of you swallowing your drink, or your breath as you drink (mindful hearing).

It seems so simple but it can actually be quite challenging if you’ve got a bit of a monkey mind🐒. Being mindful is a skill and like all skills you just need some practice!
