😴 Struggling to get a good night's sleep?

Poor sleep can affect your mood, energy, and mental health — but small changes can make a big difference. Try:

📵 Reducing screen time before bed
🛏 Making sure your bedroom is the ideal environment for sleep
🚴‍♀️ Improve sleep through diet and exercise
❌Avoid large meals, caffeine and alcohol before bed as this can affect sleep

For more support with sleep and wellbeing, Talking Therapies can help. Please refer yourself by filling out an online self-referral form, asking your GP to refer you, or calling us on 0208 175 1770

Ever feel like everything's a bit harder lately — even the small stuff? It might be because your battery’s running low.

Just like a phone, we need regular recharging. Some things drain us (chores, work responsibilities) and some things top us up (rest, hobbies, re-connecting with friends/family)

✨ Today’s reminder:
You don’t have to earn rest.
Small recharges matter too — even five minutes counts.

What helps you recharge? Share in the comments 💬

🗓️ 27 June is PTSD Awareness Day — a day to raise awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the lasting impact it can have on people’s lives.

PTSD is a mental health condition that can develop after someone experiences or witnesses something very distressing like an accident, assault, abuse, disaster, or trauma from military service. It can cause flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, or feeling “on edge” — even long after the event has passed.

First recognised in 2010 by the U.S. Senate, this awareness day has since gone global, with many countries — including the UK — observing June as PTSD Awareness Month.

It’s a chance to better understand how trauma affects people, challenge stigma, and show support to those living with PTSD and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) every day. 💙

Let’s keep the conversation going — because healing starts with understanding.

Men’s Health Week UK runs from Monday 9 to Sunday 15 June 2025. It's a great opportunity to open up conversations about men’s mental and physical health—both within your own workplace and with the wider community.

Each year, the Men’s Health Forum leads this important campaign to raise awareness and encourage men to speak up and seek support for any health concerns they might have. Let’s break the stigma and look out for one another. 💙

💙 This shines a light on the theme Caring About Equality — because unpaid carers deserve more than thanks.

Carers play a vital role, holding up our health and care systems, yet many face deep inequality: poorer health, financial strain, and lost opportunities in work and education.

📊 Carers are more likely to live in poverty, have health issues, and miss out on life chances — just because they care. That’s not fair.

It’s time for action across all parts of society — from schools to workplaces to government — so carers can thrive, not just survive.

Let’s build a fairer future, where carers are seen, valued, and supported. 💪

There is a "caring about equality" report published which delves deeper into the impacts of caring for current and former carers and explores the disadvantages that carers feel they face relative to people without caring experience. To read this please visit: www.carersweek.org/about-carers-week/latest-news/posts-folder/2025/june/caring-about-equality-report-launches/

For more information please visit about carer's week, please visit: www.carersweek.org/about-carers-week/carers-week-theme-caring-about-equality/

Pride Month, celebrated every June, is a time to honour and uplift the LGBTQ+ community. It’s an opportunity to come together to celebrate identity, promote equality, and raise awareness of ongoing LGBTQ+ issues.

The Pride movement began with the Stonewall riots of 1969 and the early gay liberation movement, rooted in activism and the fight for equality. Unlike LGBT+ History Month, which takes place in February and focuses on reflecting on the past, Pride Month is about celebrating the present and looking to the future – continuing to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and visibility.

At Newham Talking Therapies, we stand with our LGBTQ+ colleagues, patients, and communities – this month and every month. Let's continue to create a more inclusive and supportive future for all. 🏳️‍🌈
