What are Nootropics UK Used For?
Nootropics have a range of uses as we mentioned earlier, including licenced and off-label uses. Off-label doesn't mean it can't be prescribed legally, and medications are commonly used for off-label uses. The most common use is to treat narcolepsy, which is a rare neurological disorder, not fully understood. It is thought to be caused by a lack of the neurotransmitter called orexin, also known as hypocretin, which regulates wakefulness. Orexin is an important part of the sleep-wake cycle and although people with narcolepsy have the same amount of sleep as the average person, they fall asleep without warning during the day with no apparent cause. Although there is no cure for the disorder, nootropic drugs can help manage the symptoms. They are also used to manage the symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); however, the mechanism of action is not fully understood. Despite the medication being a stimulant, it is thought that the cognitive enhancing properties help with inattentiveness.
