Nothing good has ever come out of skipping a meal, I hear it all the time ‘I skipped lunch so I had biscuits at 5!’

Skipping a meal will only set you up for failure because remember when your body is hungry you crave sugar.. let that sink in.

Make sure you get your proper meals in and on time. Do not let your body get into starvation mode because when you do your cells and your body crave food which causes you to over eat.

So notice a pattern, when your hungry you always tend to reach for high sugary foods such as chocolates biscuits crisps. You also go for the easiest option and what’s that.. junk food!

My tip would be to prepare your meals in the morning, or at least know what you will be having for your breakfast, lunch and dinner. This will help you to avoid making on the go unhealthy food choices!

Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The 3 main meals of the day.
Here is an example of what I eat. It varies everyday, as you can see they all contain carbs, protein and fats. I do not believe in cutting out a certain food type.

For me it’s all about a well balanced diet and most importantly I believe food should taste good! If it doesn’t you will get bored and go back to eating things you think taste better when in-fact healthy foods can taste just as good!

Do not overcomplicate nutrition, you do not need do stop eating what you do but know how to make adjustments to make it work for you!

Also do not follow someone else’s diet, because what they eat or drink may not work for you as everyone burns energy differently. For example if you see someone online following a certain diet and they are losing weight with it and you try the same and it doesn’t work for you this just shows they are burning more calories than you.

A kettlebell is a very versatile piece of equipment. It can be used as a total body conditioning tool as you can use them for strength, endurance, flexibility and
balance training!

Kettlebells demand the use of compound exercises which in short means you use every muscle in your body. This triggers a hormonal response which in return burns a lot of calories during and after the workout!

A study by ACE has shown that a standard kettlebell workout can burn 20 calories per minute so that means you can burn 400 calories in 20 minutes!

The ability to do all these things with one tool is amazing 🤩

Lower body:
Goblet Squats
Lunges
Kettlebell swing

Upper body:

Starting your fitness journey should never start with a fad diet and over exercising. You will never be able to sustain it.

Pick one habit that you want to change and stick to that for a week then work on another one after that. This is a lifestyle change so make it realistic for yourself and understand what your mind and body needs!

Remember it’s not a quick fix that your after but a lifestyle change that you can sustain ❤️

I’ve had a few ladies approach me about my bootcamps and their main concern is that they are too embarrassed to join because they haven’t worked out for a while. Everyone starts from the beginning and if you don’t take that initial step then you are never going to succeed. Do not limit yourself in what you can do because you will miss out on opportunities and personal growth.

Taking the first step is always hard but once you do there will be no stopping you!

I incorporate a mix of HIIT & strength training into my bootcamps. These are proven to be the best way to lose weight and tone at the same time. It’s a win win situation!

No time to exercise

I have heard this too many times, whether it’s coming from my clients or my family members. I know as a women we have to wear so many different hats throughout the day, we’re juggling work, housework, school pick ups, homework and the list goes on... But what we need to do is take out 30 mins a day for ourselves. In hindsight that’s not a lot we dedicate so many hours to everyone else why can’t we have 30 mins for ourselves? I see training as self care and self love. It’s a time to work on yourself and make you a stronger version of yourself. Exercise really helps with your mental health and to be honest it’s the only thing that kept me sane in the first lockdown and now the second!
