The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) concluded semaglutide, marketed as Wegovy, is safe, effective and affordable.
Semaglutide—also called Wegovy—will be allowed to be prescribed to help people lose weight as part of their treatment in an NHS specialist weight management service.
Note:
Semaglutide has been available on the NHS as a diabetic medicine since 2019.
The appetite suppressing drug, favoured by Hollywood celebrities, makes people feel fuller.
