Educating communities and shaping the Pilates world is our commitment. The Pilates Room was founded in 2001 by Deborah Henley and Mario Perez, starting off in a smaller space and growing into the beautiful studios that we have to offer today. Deborah Henley, our Director is accredited by the Register for Exercise Professionals in the UK and by The Pilates Method Alliance, USA. We have equipment from Peak Pilates, Balanced Body and Stott Pilates. Classical Pilates... real Pilates, nothing less than the best!

Celebrating the Legacy of Joseph Pilates

Today, we honor the visionary behind the practice we all cherish—Joseph Pilates. Born on December 9, 1883, in Mönchengladbach, Germany, Pilates devoted his life to exploring the connection between strength, balance, and mindful movement.

After immigrating to the United States, he opened his iconic New York City studio in 1926 with his wife, Clara. Situated near the New York City Ballet, the studio became a destination for dancers, performers, and fitness enthusiasts seeking rehabilitation, strength, and harmony through his revolutionary Contrology method.

As we celebrate his birthday and his extraordinary contributions, let us take a moment to appreciate the profound impact Pilates has on our lives. His vision has united a global community, empowering us to feel strong, balanced, and connected in body and mind.

Today, we not only celebrate Joseph Pilates' legacy but also the vibrant industry he sparked—one that continues to inspire and uplift millions worldwide!
