Marrow groups works with Anthony Nolan to recruit potential donors onto their stem cell register. Marrow is a voluntary student organisation which helps to arrange donor recruitment clinics in universities, and raises charitable funds to run these events. Donor recruitment clinics are entirely student run; from welcoming to counselling potential donors and taking saliva samples. Students make some
of the best donors as they are young, fit and healthy. HOW TO BE INVOLVED
A) REGISTER AS A POTENTIAL STEM CELL DONOR
Throughout the year, we hold recruitment events to give people the chance to join the blood stem cell register, which links potential donors with people who desperately need a stem cell transplant. To increase the chances of finding a lifesaving match for a patient, we need more people on the register so come to one of our clinics and join! If you are aged between 16 and 30, weigh over 50kg and are in good health please come to one of our recruitment clinics. You can email us(below) about when the next clinic will be or watch this space for recruitment clinic announcements. B) VOLUNTEER WITH US
As a volunteer you can help out at a variety of our events:
• Clinics - welcome and counsel potential stem cell donors
• Fundraising events - raise awareness and money for Anthony Nolan
• R&Be events - teach 16+year old students about bone maroow, blood and organ donation
• Socials - A chance to meet the committee and enjoy yourself
We like to reward our volunteers with participation certificates depending on how many events they are involved in. To be put on the volunteer list please email us(below) with your details and interest. C) DONATING TO US
We have a justgiving page: www.justgiving.com/SGUL-Marrow
