Infertility is a beast. One minute you feel like you have control in your life, the next - no matter what you try- nothing seems to work. That is why taking care of yourself through this journey is essential.

What does that look like?
Journaling
Saying no to plans (even if you have nothing else to do)
Setting boundaries (yes even with close family)
Taking breaks
Removing restrictions on yourself

I bet you are used to crushing goals at work but now it feels like you have two full jobs. Managing infertility while trying to show up and get things done at work is exhausting.

✔️ You are hustling through your day, tracking ovulation, eating perfectly, and taking countless supplements.
✔️ Putting on a brave face so people think you are fine but you deep down you are struggling
✔️ Ignoring the exhaustion and the stress thinking if you slow down you’re not "doing enough".

Yup this is tough.

So making sure we outsource tasks, nurture the nervous system, and truly know what to let go of will be just as important as your food, lifestyle and supplements when TTC.

Anyone else find this a tough balance?

No tigers around but there are deadlines, late night doom scrolling, every person asking "when are you having kids?", hypervigilance on doing all the "right things"

Of course we stressed AF!!

So how do we switch gears and remind our bodies that it's safe and you are, in fact, not running from the tiger.

Here are a few tips:
✨Put your feet in the grass (or walk in nature)
✨Turn off social media and your phone at night
✨Mediate
✨Journal
✨Deep breathing
✨Yoga or stretching

What else work for you?

And people wonder why the holidays can really be a triggering time of year for those who are struggling with infertility.

There are so many reasons that people choose not to drink and not a single one of those reasons is anyone's business.

Have you had this before? How did you respond?

Infertility is exhausting.

If you’re doing *everything* to get pregnant but nothing’s working, it could be that you are in survival mode.

These 3 sneaky patterns might be the culprit..

👉Perfectionism: You're constantly tracking, planning, and trying to control every step.

👉 Overworking yourself: Being in a state of hypervigilance and never slowing down or resting leaves you totally exhausted.

👉 Prioritising others: You prioritize others, overextending yourself leaving you feeling depleted

A few things that might help...
❤️Set boundaries and decide where to put your energy
❤️Prioritise things like sleep, nourishing yourself and self care
❤️Turn the phones and laptops off before bed
❤️Lean on your support system (even if that is outsourcing or delegating tasks)

It's not an easy road. Infertility can be exhausting and all consuming. Sending ❤️ to you.

I was at rock bottom before I told anyone what was happening.

I was surrounded by plenty of doctors and still felt really alone and uncertain.

🌸Not knowing if would get pregnant
🌸Not knowing if I could come out unscathed
🌸Not knowing if my next decision was the right one.

If you feel a bit stuck and alone on your fertility journey, I get it and I'm here for you. ⁣⁣⁣You can always DM me and I will see if I can help.

Argh, the amount of times I didn't schedule any weekend plans, or I prepared my "sorry, can't go" response to work events. The amount of holidays that sounded amazing but was too afraid to book "just in case". Just in case I had an egg retrieval, just in case I was pregnant, just in case we had appointments.

Putting everything on hold for “just in case” seems like the only thing we can do. It's a way to prepare, a way to protect our hearts, a way to help with the unknowns.

Can you relate?

When hard work doesn't equal success

When I couldn't get pregnant, I thought, no problem, I will "just do IVF" and we will figure it all out.

But we didn't.

I tried EVERYTHING to get pregnant. Every fad diet, every supplement, every yoga class. Because that is what I was used to. Hard work.

But all this hard work that made me successful in my career was now working against me in my fertility. I was living from the neck up, making decisions on logic and speed. While this made me productive in my job, my internal system was dysregulated and I didn't know at the time but I was already running on fumes.

It was now time to stop and listen to my body. It gave me no other choice. I was time un-learn some habits.

Stress, Sleep, Rest, Energy, Mind-Body connection, Support. These were the nuggets. I made the shift for my fertility trajectory.
