This Stress Awareness Month, we're highlighting the importance of wellbeing spaces for our incredible NHS staff and families at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

Thanks to our amazing supporters, we've brought the award-winning Florence Nightingale Garden to St Thomas' Hospital. This beautiful space offers a much-needed oasis of calm in the busy hospital environment.

With the theme 'nurture through nature', the garden provides a peaceful retreat for staff to recharge and for families to find moments of tranquillity.

It's just one way we're supporting the wellbeing of those who care for us every day.

What's one thing that helps you recharge? ❤️

The big day is almost here! Tomorrow, our exceptional Team GSTC runners will be lacing up their shoes and taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2026 and Brighton Marathon Weekend!

To help them perform at their best, we want to remind our runners of the top three race-day tips from our Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust physiotherapist, Paul:

1️⃣ Run your own race.
2️⃣ Don’t change anything on race day – stick to the plan.
3️⃣ Smile and enjoy the day!

Please join us in wishing our runners the best of luck! The funds they raise will empower the teams at Guy's and St Thomas’ to stay one step ahead and continue transforming people's experiences of care.

We can’t wait to cheer them on from the side-lines and support them every step of the way!

In just three days, Sarah-Jane will be taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon for us, helping to ensure future patients receive the same exceptional care and support that she did ❤️

After being diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in 2022, Sarah-Jane received surgery at St Thomas’ Hospital and chemotherapy at Guy’s Cancer Centre.

“Being at hospital with a cancer diagnosis can be very overwhelming,” she said. “There were weeks where I saw multiple teams, and my brain and emotions were reeling - but everyone I met made the experience as comfortable as possible. I am forever thankful to the staff for easing the strain of a very scary diagnosis.”

Despite the challenges of recovery, Sarah-Jane’s determination is carrying her to the start line - and beyond.

“If you’re considering fundraising, please do. Giving back has been so fulfilling - every little bit helps someone through the hardest time of their life.”

This World Health Day, the focus is on universal health coverage - the belief that everyone should have access to essential health services, from prevention to treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care, without facing financial hardship.

Here, we know that better health for all starts with equity - recognising that everyone’s needs and starting points are different, and making sure care is there for everyone.

Thanks to your support, we’re funding services that break down barriers and make healthcare more inclusive, compassionate and accessible. From the Homeless Health Team reaching those who might otherwise struggle to access support, to the Spiritual Care Team offering comfort to people of all faiths and none - we’re working towards a fairer health system for all.

Thank you - your support helps us break down barriers and bring care to those who need it most.

Debbie’s brother Gary, just 46, spent nearly four months in Critical Care after a sudden cardiac arrest. Her family was thrown into shock, fear, and uncertainty - unsure of what would happen next.

That’s when the Family Liaison Team stepped in.

“Our family were truly lost until we met the Family Liaison Team. They helped us navigate a completely new world. We went through such a torturous time, full of uncertainties and sadness, but Tamsin and Ruby made it that little bit more bearable,” Debbie shared.

This isn’t just support - it’s personalised care when families need it most.

Thank you for helping us fund dedicated teams like this, bringing comfort, clarity and compassion during the hardest moments. 💙

This World Oral Health Day, we're shining a light on the power of innovation in dentistry at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust!

Thanks to your generous support, our £237,000 pilot for virtual dental clinics has reduced patients' waiting time for dental care from 6 months to 2 weeks.

Not only are patients are seen faster, they also travel less, and benefit from cutting-edge technology like 3D printing - all without needing to visit the hospital.

Dr Poonam Kalsi, Clinical Director at Guy’s Dental Hospital, said, “These clinics are common in medicine, but this is the first time it’s been formalised and funded for dentistry. We’re ensuring patients are seen at the right time, by the right clinician.”

Together, we're creating a future where quality dental care is accessible to all.

Hospitals can be busy, bustling places, full of patients, visitors, and healthcare teams going about their day.

This is why, thanks to our exceptional supporters, we’ve brought the award-winning Florence Nightingale Garden to St Thomas’ Hospital. Originally commissioned by The Burdett Trust for Nursing for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the garden embodies the theme ‘nurture through nature’, reflecting Florence Nightingale’s vision of the importance of light, air, and green spaces in hospital environments.

Florence is considered the pioneer of modern nursing and established the first professional nursing school at St Thomas’ Hospital in 1860. Her ideas about care, compassion, and the healing power of nature continue to inspire us today.

Avey Bhatia, Chief Nurse at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust said, “The garden is a very welcome gift that our patients, staff and visitors will be able to enjoy. It is beautifully designed and will offer an oasis of calm in a busy hospital environment”.
