Last month, we hosted an inspiring Training Evening to support our exceptional Team GSTC as they prepare to take on the TCS London Marathon, Brighton Marathon Weekend and London Landmarks Half Marathon in April!

The runners learned how to train effectively, elevate their fundraising efforts, and heard first-hand about how their contributions will help support exceptional care at Guy’s and St Thomas’. Plus, they were treated to some exclusive goodies to say thank you for their support!

To wrap up the evening, the team laced up for a 5k run, getting into the marathon spirit together.

If you’d like to be a part of our running community, there’s still time to sign up for the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October!

Did you know that it has been one year since the remarkable MediCinema was awarded a BAFTA for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award?🏆

This Special Award recognised Medicinema’s significant and inspiring contribution to the world of film and is one of the BAFTA’s highest accolades.

We have supported Medicinema at Guy’s and St Thomas’ for over 10 years, helping to bring the magic of film to hospital patients. Together, we’re offering them a chance to heal emotionally and mentally during their stay. The cinemas show the latest blockbusters and are completely free for patients, their families, and carers.

Nicks, MediCinema manager, said: “It’s really special to give patients memories that aren’t just sitting in a hospital bed. It means they can share a ‘normal’ experience with friends and family and gives them something to talk about that’s nothing to do with their treatment.”

We’re so proud to support Medicinema and their work. Are you interested in learning more about it?

Thanks to your generous support, innovative technology, and the exceptional teams at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust patients recovering from surgery can now be monitored without extra hospital visits.

Through Isla, a secure visual medical record platform we’ve helped support, doctors can:
➡️ review post-surgery wounds remotely
➡️ capture and submit data to support recovery
➡️ give wound care advice directly to patients online.

Patients can share images and updates securely, meaning issues or infections are spotted quickly - reducing unnecessary trips to hospital and giving peace of mind during recovery.

Have you ever used Isla for a post-surgery check up?

Did you know? The rainbow badge initiative, first developed by Evelina London Children's Charity has now been adopted by seven in 10 NHS Trusts across the UK!

This LGBT+ History Month, we want to take a moment to celebrate our Progress Pride badges. These badges are part of our ongoing commitment to reducing healthcare barriers for LGBT+ people. The new design, which launched last year, updates the six-striped rainbow flag with the Progress Pride flag to better represent the many identities within the LGBT+ community.

By wearing these badges, our staff are showing their dedication to treating everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

This pioneering initiative was made possible thanks to the generosity of our exceptional supporters like you.

Thank you for helping us create a more inclusive NHS 💙

This Time To Talk Day, we’re recognising the importance of taking a moment to pause, reflect and check in.

Thanks to your generous support, permanent Wellbeing Zones are now open at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, giving the exceptional NHS staff a dedicated space to rest, recharge and take a quiet moment away from the demands of clinical care. These calming spaces help staff feel supported throughout their shifts - physically and mentally.

The wellbeing zone at Guy’s Hospital is on the 2nd floor of Atrium 1. At St Thomas’ Hospital, you’ll find it in Shepherd Hall. Both are open 24/7, whenever staff need them.

This is a reminder to pause, check in, and support one another.

Last month, we welcomed 21 amazing runners to our inspiring Training Evening!

Our runners are gearing up to take on iconic events like the TCS London Marathon, Brighton Marathon Weekend and London Landmarks Half Marathon in April. Everyone came together with a common goal - supporting exceptional care at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

On the night, runners heard from Trust physiotherapist, Paul. His top tips for marathon training to help runners prepare and perform at their best on their race day are:
1. Run your own race.
2. Don’t change anything on race day – stick to the plan.
3. Smile and enjoy the day!

How's your training going? Let us know in the comments!

Some of the most vulnerable patients cared for by Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust are experiencing homelessness - facing significant barriers to both healthcare and support.

That’s why we help fund the specialist Homeless Health Team – a dedicated group making sure everyone gets the care they deserve, no matter their circumstances.

Thanks to donations, we've also supported the launch of the Homeless Patients Legal Advocacy Service, in partnership with Southwark Law Centre. This pioneering service offers legal advice, housing support, and healthcare advocacy all in one place, helping people navigate incredibly complex challenges.

£50 could help fund a technology specialist to develop innovative, cost-effective solutions that automate routine processes - giving Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust clinical teams more time to focus on patients.

Care never stands still. And, with your support, neither do we. Every gift we receive, large or small, helps us go beyond what the NHS can provide to push the boundaries of exceptional care.

Did you know that Sunday was World Religion Day?

Today, we want to share five things you may not know about the Spiritual Care Team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

At Guy’s and St Thomas’, spiritual care is about compassion, comfort, and connection - whatever your beliefs. Did you know that it:

1️⃣ Is open to all faiths and none
Our Spiritual Care Team of 19 people represents a wide range of religions and spiritual practices. They support people of all faiths, or none at all, and help find strength and meaning during difficult times.

2️⃣ Supports everyone
Spiritual care is available to patients, staff, and families. Whether it’s coping with a diagnosis, grieving a loss, or supporting a loved one, the team offers confidential care to anyone who needs it.

3️⃣ Supports you, your way
From Friday prayers and Catholic Mass to humanist meditation, one-to-one support, or simply quiet reflection - the team helps people find peace in ways that work for them.

4️⃣ Is always there for you
With chapels, prayer rooms, and 24/7 availability, spiritual care is never far away. The team also visit wards to offer bedside support whenever it’s needed.

5️⃣ Has support from our charity
We fund vital staff wellbeing work and help the team celebrate religious festivals and share their support across the hospitals.
