The Materials Society aims to bring together all those with an interest in materials science and related subjects. There will be talks about placement and internship opportunities and from Queen Mary alumni who are now in industry or studying medicine or dentistry. These events will provide a great opportunity to find out about the wide range of career paths available as well as being a great chan

ce to network! The society will also run social events throughout the year ranging from Museum Lates and curry nights to pub crawls and nights out.

Hi all,

I hope you are doing well. Just wanted to let you know about the National Women in Enginnering Day to be held on Friday,23rd June at IOM3 headquarters.

This event is open to all - men and women - and is a chance to network with other attendees as well as hear some inspiring speakers, while celebrating the achievements of women in engineering.

The programme is as follows :-
1. Keynote lecture from Professor Serena Best, Professor of Materials Science at Cambridge University and current Senior Vice President of IOM3.
2.Two career profiles from successful women – one from academia and one from industry
3. A presentation on the challenges of working overseas
4.A representative from the Daphne Jackson Trust which specialises in supporting people back into scientific research careers following career breaks
5.Information on various opportunities to become more involved with IOM3
6.Refreshments and Networking

Venue:- IOM3 headquarters, 297 Euston Road,London
Date and Time:- 23rd June and 2PM
Cost:- Free to attend

QMUL SEMS, has a Ph.D opening starting next year looking at elastomers for subsea Oil and Gas seals. This is a fully funded Ph.D sponsored by Schlumberger and likely leads to a job in Houston Texas after graduation. If you are interested, leave a comment below or send us a message!
