London Hearts

London Hearts London Hearts is a registered charity (1180901) We aim to provide defibrillators throughout the UK.

Less than one in ten people survive an out of hospital cardiac arrest. We believe that the widespread availability of defibrillators, and the more people willing and able to use them, the better out of hospital cardiac arrest patients outcomes will be. London Hearts provides charitable grants and fundraising support to help communities and organisations obtain a a defibrillator, as well as CPR training awareness sessions, so that anyone can learn how to save a life. We are working towards a future where nobody is further than 100m away from one of these lifesaving devices, wherever they are in the UK. It is common to confuse a cardiac arrest with a heart attack. However, they are NOT the same thing ❗

In a cardiac arrest the heart actually stops beating; whereas in a heart attack the heart normally continues to beat even though the blood supply to the heart is disrupted. An automated external defibrillator will NOT help a heart attack victim.

SHARE to help someone learn the difference and save a life ❤

Public access defibrillators are designed to be used by ANYONE. When switched on, it will provide clear instructions and talk you through what you need to do.
A defibrillator will not harm the person suffering a cardiac arrest and will only give them a shock if and when it is needed. There's no reason to feel nervous about using a defibrillator - just follow its simple instructions, and know that using it could save someone's life. ❤

Bleed Kit installed down at Trent Lock
Life saving emergency ‘bleed kits’ have been installed at new defibrillators installed by Erewash, including the one down at Trent Lock, which was provided by Sawley Parish Council in conjunction with London Hearts Charity

Funding for the wall-hung kits has come from the Safer Erewash Partnership , which is backed by the Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner.

To open the boxes, people need to get a code by phoning 999. They will be given step by step instructions on how to use the gear.

A defibrillator is the only device that can help when someone has a cardiac arrest. No community should be without one.

London Hearts Defibrillator Charity

London Hearts is a Registered Charity in England, Charity Number 1180901

Our mission is centered on saving lives in England by funding Public Access Defibrillators and emergency lifesaving equipment throughout England, and providing CPR training sessions. We would like to see a Defibrillator next to every fire extinguisher in England.

It’s shocking that the survival rate is only 3%. Where an AED or Defibrillator is used, the survival rate increases to 67 %. “Unfortunately, there are not enough defibrillators in England or enough confident people to give victims the best chance of survival during those first few critical minutes. With access to more defibrillators we can provide a vital link in the chain of survival so that even more lives can be saved. When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, their chances of survival drop by up to 10% for every minute that passes, so a speedy response is crucial. Therefore, early defibrillation – within three to five minutes – gives the best possible chance of survival.” We are inundated with requests on a daily basis.
