You may believe you’re an “overthinker” BUT when we slow things down, usually something else is happening…

You’re tired but push through anyway,
You’re hurt but tell yourself it’s not a big deal,
You need space but convince yourself you’ll be fine

Over time, that pattern becomes automatic.

Instead of noticing your own needs, you start renegotiating them.

That is actually overriding. NOT overthinking.

BUT your needs are not problems to manage, rather they are information!

When you actually start listening rather than overriding, things start to shift…

The mental chatter quietens, your body starts to relax and making decisions becomes easier.

Stop shrinking yourself to be liked or loved.

Some of us learned early on that being loved meant being easy to be around.

Not too opinionated.
Not too emotional.
Not too successful.
Not too much.

So we soften our voice.
We laugh when something isn’t funny.
Downplay achievements.
Smooth things over so nobody feels uncomfortable.

Over time, that shrinking just becomes automatic.

BUT real connection doesn’t require you to disappear!

When your nervous system feels safe in who you are, you don’t need to make yourself smaller in order to stay connected…

You can speak clearly!
Hold your ground.
Be seen!

Yes, that will change some of your relationships- but the relationships that will remain are the ones that were genuine and steady enough to hold ALL of you. Isn’t that a good thing? To have fulfilling and authentic relationships that allow you to be fully you?!

Many people I work with look like they have it all together on the outside…

Over time, these cycles of self-abandonment lead to burnout.

Mindset isn’t enough to “fix” people-pleasing.

Your nervous system and body ALSO has to feel safe.

You can know that you’re allowed to say no and understand that you don’t need everyone’s approval - AND you can STILL feel your chest tighten when you try to set a boundary.

That is your body reacting. Mindset won’t override that.

But when your body feels safe, boundaries begin to feel natural.

You no longer brace, spiral or abandon yourself…

Instead, you choose.

Justify it.

THEN you can it overthinking.

But you CAN trust that first signal.
You CAN respond to what you feel BEFORE your mind starts negotiating.

You’re not tired. You’re overriding yourself.

It’s not the workload, it’s the constant internal negotiation.

You feel the signal to rest, but you ignore it.

You don’t want to go, but you tell yourself it’s easier if you just do it.

That constant override is exhausting! And before you know it, you’ll have a one way ticket to burnout.

But….

You can notice the signal AND honour it.

How?

When your nervous system feels safe, you no longer feel the need to keep overriding yourself and quietening your voice.

Instead, you feel aligned. Anchored. Peace.

Not necessarily because you’re doing less, BUT because you’re no longer fighting against yourself!

People pleasing isn’t a personality trait. It is a nervous system adaptation.

Your body learned that being agreeable kept you safe.

Keeping the peace kept you connected.

Being easy kept you accepted.

So when conflict appears now, your system reacts before you can even think!

But there is good news…….

That wiring can be updated!

You don’t have to force yourself to be more confident. Instead, let’s teach your body that it’s safe to disappoint someone, it’s safe to use your voice.

Why? Well I think you can answer that one yourself - what do you get from remaining in this people pleasing cycle? What would you gain if you left it and finally felt SAFE enough to lean into your truth and the life YOU truly want to live?

High-performing women don’t burn out from workload. They burn out from self-abandonment.

You can handle the pressure, the long hours and the responsibility. That’s not the issue.

The issue is overriding yourself whilst you do it.

It’s not the back to back meetings, it’s saying yes when you meant no.

It’s not the ambition - it’s abandoning yourself to maintain it.

You CAN be driven without running on self-pressure.
You CAN be successful WITHOUT self-sacrifice.

The problem isn’t ambition, it’s the lack of internal alignment.

When your body feels safe, achievement doesn’t cost you. You can work hard and not lose yourself doing it.
