Week 1 of solo travel, reflections:

- I really, really like other peoples’ company 😂
- Learning to be okay in my own company, however, feels really important. I’ve had to figure stuff out in terms of travel and navigation all on my own, and I’m really not used to that! So it’s been a good lesson in resilience
- I naturally fall into my own daily rhythm when alone, and generally know how I like to spend my time which has been a nice reminder
- Men stare at you A LOT, and sadly this is something us women have just had to get used to. I’ve felt quite unsettled at moments this week but it got a bit easier each day
- Reconnected with my love of reading (5 books in one week which is unheard of for me)
- My practice has felt so much deeper and more present each day, with fewer distractions, time pressures or people to please
- I can actually look after myself quite well (I think I’d forgotten this 😂)

Want something to get you through the grim UK winter?

Come to Sri Lanka with me and the crew January 22nd - 29th 2024.

7 nights, twice daily yoga, sound baths, morning meditation and journaling, spa treatments, 3 delicious Sri Lankan meals a day, hiking in the mountains, swimming in waterfalls, visiting tea plantations and temples, swimming, resting, reading (and more, but you get the idea!)

I don’t have words for how excited I am for this retreat. It’s going to start our year with adventure, new sights, delicious food, warm sun kissed skin. But it’ll also give us the opportunity to start the year with intention, with deepening our practices, with connecting us to our true selves whilst connecting us to others meaningfully. It’s going to be incredibly special and I hope you can join ❤️

Back from my final non-work trip of summer 23 ☀️

Ibiza you were great. A welcome bit of letting my hair down but mostly just long wonderfully drawn out moments being with dear friends.

Morning coffee/tea chats where for once one of you isn’t rushing off somewhere else

Listening to your friends laugh together and feeling that nice warm feeling inside

Reconnecting with the children you used to be when you first became friends

Finding out things you didn’t know about each other and simultaneously feeling free to be authentically yourself

We drove out to the viewpoint for Es Vedrà (apparently the third most magnetic spot in the world) and did a group meditation together. I felt such quite a foregut well of emotion come up and had a little cry. We all shared 1 word we wanted to keep with us and mine was peace. I don’t feel enough if that at the moment so that’s what I’m holding onto coming into this new chapter 🙏🏻

Peace, peace, peace x

Hello lovely people 👋🏼

It’s been a little while since I’ve introduced myself on here, so here are 10 FUN FACTS about me (not sure these are that fun but you can be the judge of that 😂)

1) I was a nerdy little drama kid at school, and always wanted to be on stage (the thought of which now absolutely terrifies me!)

2) I performed in a play at the Edinburgh fringe festival in 2014, plenty of people walked out lol

3) I am a cat person, and can’t wait to adopt some rescue kitties asap

4) I don’t like Harry Potter, which people are often REALLY OFFENDED by when I tell them 🧙‍♀️ 🪄

5) I didn’t grow up sporty and active, but I’m a real lover of movement now. I make it an intention to move my body in an enjoyable way every day 🙏🏻 I love variety in my movement practices and this year have been enjoying pole dancing, swimming, climbing, weight lifting (and of course lots of yoga asana). I think it’s really important to try new things and remember what it’s like to be a beginner at something

6) I’ve always struggled with being a people pleaser, and am very conflict averse. I’m always working on being more assertive and having stronger boundaries with people

7) My friends are everything to me! I value and cherish my relationships above anything else and always want to invest more into them ❤️

8) I used to have an unhealthy obsession with true crime, regularly smashing a couple of podcasts a day - which deffo contributed to my anxiety 😂 now I’ve curbed it but still love a good crime drama

9) I am becoming more and more fascinated by the link between quantum physics and spirituality, moon cycles, astrology, human psychology, the effect of nature on our nervous systems and the importance of community (I want to live in a small commune one day, read: I am a big old hippy at heart and fully take after my parents on this)

10) the reason I love teaching yoga is because I get to be a small part of peoples’ journeys towards deeper self understanding, and I think that’s the most beautiful thing. I still pinch myself that I get to do this for my work!

🥰

I simultaneously come to life in summer and also get incredibly overwhelmed with life from about May onwards 😂 every year I forget how this very ‘yang’ time of year feels in my body - it feels like all of my energy being expended outwards to other people and other things.

My yoga at the moment is just remembering to have little bits of quiet and stillness where I can. A 5 minute timer to sit down and come to my breath. A 10 minute move on my mat. Writing my journal before bed.

Doesn’t sound like much, but it’s the stuff that anchors me through these joints of beautiful, sunny chaos ☀️

So I turned 30 recently.

And in spite of all the build up, all the fear-based pervasive narratives about getting old, and the conditioned ideas about what this age should mean - it felt so good.

Stepping out of my 20s feels like letting go of needing to please other people so much. It feels like owning my own s**t. It feels like knowing which relationships to pour my energy into and which to gently walk away from. And it feels like this beautiful arrival at a place I’ve always wanted to be.

It feels like stepping into my authentic self ✨

I got home thinking of a million and one things I ‘needed’ to do so instead I lay down under the covers and listened to a yoga nidra (thank you .wadsten) and read the end of my book (open water, read it immediately if you haven’t). Rest is a rebellious act, and one that society doesn’t often encourage you to do, and often gifts us with everything we didn’t know we needed.

I am trying to be a bit softer this January. To drown out the noise of “you could be better” and a hundred marketing ploys to get you to chase “betterness” - and instead just resting into an easier state of being. So far I am liking it a lot ❤️

Here we are 2023 💫

Each year I feel like I learn more about myself, what fulfils me, what sort of people I want to surround myself, what my challenges and areas of growth are. This year is going to be all about presence, healing and allowing my gut and heart to guide me without letting social conditioning or fear of doing the ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ thing get in the way. I’m also going to be embracing all the things that make me happy: community, music, nature, good food, good people, yoga, adventures and plenty of dancing in fields with my pals ❤️

I would bloody love if you could join me in starting or deepening your yoga practice this year. Come practice with me weekly, online, in the studio, for weekend workshops or events, or even on two glorious retreats 💫

Here’s to a bloody good one x
