Lipoedema can present at any time, but it’s usually linked to hormonal changes and often begins during puberty, many people are not diagnosed until later in life.

A recent survey by Lipoedema UK found over half of sufferers experienced symptoms around puberty but only 2% received a diagnosis and it is often misdiagnosed as a weight issue. A massive 62% of respondents stated they didn’t receive a diagnosis until later in life – between 41 and 80 years of age.

This 22-year-old patient underwent full upper leg lipo to treat lipoedema.
