8th January - 17th March 2012
PROJECT (A) with Rescope Programme – Malawi Schools Sustainable Land-use
Project objectives: To raise awareness of environmental issues and to increase capacity of schools to create greener landscapes. Volunteers will work directly with schools in order to raise awareness of environmental issues, in turn building the capacity of teachers and students alike to addr
ess relevant concerns within their community. Additionally, they will be involved with the appropriate design of the schools’ landscapes. Volunteers will gain an understanding of environmental issues in Malawi and methodologies to tackle these. They will see how biodiversity, healthier landscapes, and improved organic food production can be achieved as a result. PROJECT (B) - with MANERELA - Positive faith action response to HIV and AIDS
Project objectives: To reduce the impact of HIV among people living with HIV and their immediate families; to improve knowledge and skills in livelihoods and food security; to mitigate stigma and discrimination among people living with HIV in the faith community and beyond. Volunteers will gain a clear picture of the situation for the people living with HIV in Malawi and what development challenges are being faced, as well as what they could do to efficiently assist people living with HIV in poor countries like Malawi. You will be involved with training people living with HIV in enhancing livelihood skills and in orientation in sexual reproductive health and positive behaviour change.
