Clarendon Home Care

Clarendon Home Care Clarendon Home Care is a leading provider of live in care and hourly home care based in Surrey.

Live-in care is a cost-effective alternative to residential care that allows you to maintain independence and control at home. It offers people the opportunity to build a closer relationship with one carer and to receive around-the-clock support from a trained professional that knows your routines as well as you do. Once you get in touch with us and tell us a little bit more about the level of care you or your loved one require, we’ll put together an initial assessment and give you some idea of what level of support we think you’ll need and how much it might cost. From there, we’ll sit down with you for a face-to-face chat and we’ll get to know you and your circumstances a little better. We’ll use these initial conversations with you to build a profile of the kind of live-in carer that suits you and your family. We’ll then present you with a few options and together we’ll choose a live-in carer based on their experience, qualifications, character, and skills. We’ll then place the live-in carer in your home and the care service will begin. We’ll fully manage things after that, dealing with the carer’s pay and holiday and following up with spot-checks, performance reviews and any extra training that’s required. Call us today to arrange your free Clarendon Home Care consultation and assessment on 020 8439 7722.

Choosing live-in care can transform daily life, offering comfort, safety, and genuine companionship in a way other care options often can’t match. With a dedicated carer living in the home, support becomes personal, continuous, and deeply reassuring for both clients and families.

Benefits of live-in care include:
• 24/7 support and a constant safety net
• One-to-one attention tailored to individual needs
• The comfort of staying at home—routine, pets, and familiar surroundings
• Support for couples wishing to remain together
• Continuity of care, reducing stress and anxiety
• A stronger, more meaningful bond between client and carer

Families often tell us that their live-in carers feel like “another family member.” Sue from Thames Ditton said her carer, Marion, “brought warmth, kindness, and stability into every single day.” Michael from Cobham shared that his carer, Ton-Su, “felt like a trusted part of the family within weeks.”

We’re proud to support clients across Surrey’s most sought-after areas, including Cobham, Kingston upon Thames, Twickenham, Richmond, Egham, Runnymede, and many other beautiful communities. We also organise regular breaks for carers to ensure continuity and peace of mind for everyone involved.

If you’re exploring live-in care and want expert advice, call Clarendon Home Care today. All good care starts with a conversation - and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

The quiet cost of Christmas: why loneliness and isolation matter - and how home care helps

Christmas is meant to be a time of company and routine, but for many older people it highlights what’s missing. Recent Age UK research shows nearly 1 in 14 people aged 65+ - around 940,000 older people in the UK - are described as being “often lonely.”

The charity also reports that about 270,000 older people in England go a week without speaking to a friend or family member, and those who do are nearly three times more likely to feel lonely.

The festive season amplifies those statistics. Age UK’s Christmas-focused research and follow-up press coverage find hundreds of thousands of older people will be without company on Christmas Day, and many report that the holidays make them feel more isolated than other times of year. For example Age UK figures estimated roughly 590,000 people aged over 65 won’t see or speak to anyone on Christmas Day.

Why the effect is so strong at Christmas
Christmas concentrates expectations of social contact into a small window. When family patterns have changed (relocation, bereavement, caring responsibilities) or mobility and health limit travel, the contrast between what the season promises and what an older person actually experiences can be stark. Practical barriers also matter: transport, physical frailty, sensory loss, and cognitive decline make leaving home or hosting others difficult — particularly in winter months when bad weather and shorter daylight hours make going out less appealing or safe.

Home care as a practical, humane alternative to care homes
For families weighing options, home care (both visiting care and live-in care) offers several concrete advantages at Christmas that can reduce isolation without uprooting the person:

• Stay in familiar surroundings. Remaining at home preserves daily routines, keeps familiar objects and memories close, and reduces the disorientation some people feel after a move.
• One-to-one social contact. A dedicated carer provides regular, personalised companionship — a meaningful counter to days when family members can’t visit.
• Flexible visitor arrangements. Home care can adapt schedules around family plans so older people can still receive support during parties, trips, or when relatives visit for Christmas dinner.
• Maintain community links. Carers can help keep older people connected to local services, shops, churches or clubs — all important for preventing long-term isolation.
• Lower disruption for health needs. For people with chronic conditions or dementia, home care avoids the stress of relocation and maintains continuity of clinical and personal support.

Why choose Clarendon Home Care?
Clarendon Home Care is a local, family-run provider offering visiting home care, live-in home care and specialist at-home services across Surrey and south-west London. Their site describes both visiting and live-in options and highlights long experience providing care in the area.

Clarendon already provides live-in and visiting services for many Surrey towns you mentioned - Staines, Egham, Sunbury, Cobham, Thames Ditton, Kingston and Walton and has pages detailing live-in care availability in Egham and Cobham. They also list a Kingston base and contact details for local enquiries.

Importantly, Clarendon promotes that live-in care can be arranged across a wider area of Surrey and parts of London, which makes it straight-forward to arrange continuous, one-to-one support over the Christmas period when consistent companionship matters most.

What to expect from Clarendon at Christmas (practical)
• Tailored visiting schedules — short daily visits for companionship and tasks, or longer holiday-period supervision when family are busy.
• Live-in carers - a carer stays in the home for continuous support, reducing the risk of someone spending long stretches alone on Christmas Day.
• Specialist at-home care - for mobility, dementia care, personal care and medication support, with plans that account for festive routines and visitors.

Balancing facts and feelings
This isn’t about fear-mongering. The point is practical: loneliness is measurable and common, Christmas can make it worse, and there are sensible, evidence-based ways to reduce harm. Bringing professional home care into the plan can make the holidays safer and more sociable for an older relative while avoiding the upheaval of an institutional move.

If you’d like to explore options with Clarendon Home Care, they publish local contact details (Kingston office) and can discuss visiting or live-in arrangements that suit your family’s plans over the festive season.

If you’re worried about someone this Christmas, start with a conversation: ask about their plans, whether they’ll be alone, and whether extra help for a few days or a live-in carer might make a difference. The statistics make the problem visible - home care can be the practical step that turns a worrying Christmas into one with better company, safety and continuity.

🌟 Why Live-In Care Is Often a Better Choice Than a Care Home - and Why Clarendon Home Care Has Been Trusted Since 1994 🌟

When the time comes to consider care options for ourselves or someone we love, it can feel overwhelming. There are so many emotions involved, and the desire to make the right decision carries immense weight. At Clarendon Home Care, we’ve supported thousands of individuals and families across Surrey since 1994, and one of the most common questions we hear is this:

“Is live-in care better than moving into a care home?”

While every family’s situation is unique, many people find that live-in care offers comfort, stability, dignity, and independence in ways a care home simply can’t match. Today, we’d like to share why live-in care has become such a valued choice (especially for couples) and why families across Surrey continue to trust Clarendon Home Care to support their loved ones.

🌿 The Power of Remaining at Home

There’s something deeply comforting about home. It’s where our memories live. Where our garden has grown. Where our favourite armchair sits and where neighbours wave through the window. Home is personal, familiar, and meaningful.

Live-in care allows people to stay in the environment where they feel safest and happiest. Instead of uprooting their lives to enter a care home setting, individuals can continue enjoying their routines, their pets, their comforts, and the freedom of their own surroundings. This is especially beneficial for people living with dementia, who often feel calmer and more secure in familiar environments.

With live-in care, nothing needs to change unless you want it to. Meals can still be enjoyed at your preferred time. Mornings can be peaceful. Hobbies can continue. Visitors can come whenever they wish. Life carries on - supported, not restricted.

👫 A Better Option for Couples

One of the greatest advantages of live-in care - something many families don’t realise at first - is how beneficial it is for couples.

In a residential care home, couples are often separated or placed in different rooms based on their individual care needs. Even when they remain in the same building, they rarely get to spend their days together as they once did.

Live-in care keeps couples together, at home, and supported as a unit.

Whether one partner needs more assistance than the other, or both need support, our live-in carers ensure each person receives personalised attention while enabling them to continue living the life they love - side by side.

For many couples we support, this continuity is priceless.

💛 Personalised, One-to-One Support

A care home must divide staff attention among many residents. Live-in care provides dedicated, one-to-one support tailored exactly to the individual’s needs. This means:

Consistent companionship

Flexible care that adapts as needs change

Someone always on hand for safety and reassurance

Support with medication, mobility, personal care, meals, housekeeping, and more

Instead of a rotating team, individuals benefit from a familiar, carefully-matched carer who truly gets to know them. This continuity builds trust, comfort, and genuine companionship.

🌟 Outstanding Care for Over 30 Years

Since 1994, Clarendon Home Care has had the privilege of supporting thousands of people throughout Surrey. Over the decades, we’ve grown in expertise, compassion, and understanding - but our mission has never changed:

To help people live well in the comfort and dignity of their own homes.

Our team is made up of highly trained, carefully vetted carers who share our dedication to exceptional, person-centred care. And we’re proud to hold a CQC rating of “Good”, reflecting our commitment to delivering safe, effective, and compassionate support for every person we serve.

🏡 The Comfort of Stability

One of the challenges people face when moving into a care home is the sudden change in routine, environment, and independence. Live-in care avoids this disruption entirely.

With live-in care, the home remains the same - only the level of support changes. This stability is especially important for individuals with dementia, mobility challenges, or medical conditions that make change difficult.

Remaining at home also helps maintain:

Mental wellbeing

Confidence and independence

Sense of identity and personal freedom

It’s a way of preserving dignity while ensuring safety, comfort, and companionship.

🛋️ Tailored to Your Life - Not the Other Way Around

Care homes operate on schedules—set mealtimes, structured activities, regulated visiting hours. Live-in care flips that model entirely.

With live-in care:

You choose when to eat, sleep, or go out

You choose how your day is spent

You choose who visits and when

You live at your own pace

This personalised flexibility is one of the reasons live-in care has become the preferred option for so many families seeking choice, comfort, and control over their care.

🐾 Pets Can Stay Too

For many people, pets are part of the family. Unfortunately, most care homes cannot accommodate animals, which leads to heartbreaking separations.

Live-in care allows individuals to stay with the pets they love. Our carers are happy to help with dog walks, feeding routines, vet appointments, and all the day-to-day tasks that keep pets happy and healthy.

A home without a beloved pet simply doesn’t feel the same - and with live-in care, no one has to say goodbye.

📞 All Good Care Starts With a Conversation

The Unexpected Power of Companionship Care

When many people think of home care, they picture the basics: personal care, medication prompts, perhaps a little housework.

But the real heart of great care lies in something far more human. Companionship care creates the space for genuine connection - unhurried conversation, shared hobbies, crosswords over a warm cup of tea, favourite games, or the gentle encouragement needed to keep treasured routines alive.

Across Surrey and surrounding areas - Kingston upon Thames, Cobham, Richmond, Twickenham, New Malden, Staines, Sunbury, Egham, Shepperton, Ashford (Surrey), Thames Ditton, Epsom, and Molesey - families routinely tell us the same thing: it’s the time and the relationship that make the difference.

The bond that forms between a client and a carer can be quietly profound. It’s the relief of knowing someone truly sees your loved one, notices the small details, remembers their stories, and brings comfort simply by walking through the door.

Care homes can offer wonderful communal activities, but home care offers something uniquely personal. Companionship care centres around you: your pace, your passions, your memories, your home. It isn’t about ticking tasks off a list - it’s about presence, joy, and emotional warmth. And even one hour a week can create reassurance, confidence, and moments of genuine happiness that linger long after the visit ends.

At Clarendon Home Care, we’ve seen just how transformative companionship care can be - how it can brighten a day, soothe loneliness and restore a sense of meaning through simple, consistent, heartfelt connection. You don’t need to be in crisis to explore support; sometimes a single extra hour can bring surprising peace of mind.

If you’re curious about how companionship care could help you or someone you love, we’d be delighted to talk. The smallest change could make a world of difference.

Live in Care vs. Care Homes

When most people think about long-term care, their minds go straight to care homes - but live-in care is a powerful, often overlooked alternative that’s growing rapidly in the UK.

With live-in care, a professional caregiver moves into the home to provide 24/7 one-to-one support, allowing individuals to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own surroundings.

Recent research shows that 97% of people would prefer to stay in their own homes as they age (Source: Live-in Care Hub), yet many aren’t aware it’s even possible. Staying at home means maintaining routines, beloved pets, and community ties - things that can have a huge impact on mental and physical wellbeing.

Unlike care homes, where staff ratios can be stretched, live-in care offers dedicated, personalised attention and continuity of care.

It’s also a great solution for couples, who can continue living together rather than being separated into different care settings - a major emotional and financial advantage. And at a time when many care homes are closing due to financial pressures, disrupting residents’ lives, live-in care provides security and stability.

From tailored meal plans and companionship to full clinical support, live-in care ensures dignity, independence, and comfort - all within the place most of us truly call home.

Live-in care isn’t just an alternative - it’s a better way to care.
