Today in this weeks LE REPOs we pause with Starry Night and the Astronauts (1972) by Alma Thomas. Small, rhythmic dabs of color create a quiet sense of movement, like light across a night sky.

Alma Thomas (1891–1978) was an American painter who, in her seventies, turned to luminous abstraction, creating vibrant fields of color inspired by nature, light, and space exploration. In 1972 she became the first African American woman to have a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

When your mind won’t stop, sleep can feel like a negotiation.

Frankincense is our grounding note for night — resinous, warm, quietly expansive. In aromatherapy, scent engages the limbic system (emotion + memory), and with repetition it can become a learned cue: it’s safe to downshift now.

Apply to pulse points. Inhale slowly. Repeat.

Here’s how we turn your bath into a sleep signal.

Step one: Add Reser Relax mineral salts. Magnesium helps relax muscles and supports your nervous system shifting out of fight-or-flight.

Step two: Add Bath & Shower oil.
Scent talks directly to your brain’s emotional centre. Calm the mind, calm the body.

Step three: Soak. Warm water gently raises your core temperature.

Now the important part: When you step out, your body cools.
That drop in temperature mimics what naturally happens before sleep.
It helps cue melatonin and tells your brain: it’s time.

Warm. Cool. Sleep.

It’s not just a bath.
It’s thermal regulation.

Tonight, try it.

Begin with our Reset Relax mineral salts. Magnesium supports muscle relaxation and helps regulate the stress response. Warm water immersion has been shown to reduce sympathetic (“fight or flight”) activity, encouraging a shift toward parasympathetic repair mode.

Add anatomē bath oil. Scent communicates directly with the limbic system, the brain’s emotional centre, helping reduce perceived stress and quiet mental overactivity. Oils also reinforce the skin barrier, supporting overnight recovery.

Relax in the warmth. A bath or long shower raises core body temperature slightly.

Then step out and allow the cooling phase to begin. As the body cools, heat dissipates through the skin. This post-bath temperature drop mirrors the body’s natural pre-sleep decline in core temperature one of the key physiological triggers for melatonin release and sleep onset.

Salt. Oil. Warmth. Cooling.
A ritual grounded in physiology.

So Tonight, reset.

A calming botanical blend to quiet mental noise and support deep, restorative sleep.

Overactive Mind Oil is a grounding, aromatic formula designed to ease racing thoughts, mental tension, and cognitive overstimulation at the end of the day. Crafted with soothing plant extracts and calming essential oils, this blend helps support a decluttered mind, emotional balance, and a seamless transition into deep sleep.

Ideal for those who struggle to “switch off” at night, Overactive Mind Oil encourages relaxation of both mind and body—creating space for stillness, clarity, and restorative rest.

Benefits:
• Helps calm racing thoughts and mental chatter
• Supports relaxation and nervous system balance
• Encourages a clear, decluttered state of mind
• Promotes deeper, more restorative sleep
• Eases the transition from activity to rest

Suggested Use:
Apply to pulse points, temples, chest, or soles of the feet before bedtime. Inhale deeply and allow the calming aroma to settle the mind and prepare the body for sleep.

A nightly ritual for unwinding, letting go, and drifting into peaceful, uninterrupted rest.

Tea has always been a quiet ritual for me , a moment to reset between meetings, to wind down in the evening, or to begin the day with intention. Creating our own blends felt like a natural extension of everything we stand for at anatome: sleep, calm, restoration and everyday wellbeing.

Each blend has been thoughtfully formulated to support the body and mind, whether that’s easing into sleep, finding focus, or simply taking a pause.

Wellbeing isn’t about grand gestures. It’s built in small daily rituals.

Tuesday Images on Sleep. This week at anatome we’re focusing on sleep, not as perfection, but as permission.

We love Eugène Carrière’s Sleep (1897) because it captures what rest actually feels like: soft edges, dim light, the world finally quieting. Nothing performative. Just safety, closeness, and letting go.

We’re featuring it as a reminder that sleep isn’t something you “hack” — it’s something you support.

What’s one thing you’re doing this week to protect your sleep?
