🌟 Team Member Tuesday Spotlight 🌟

At TLC Care, we’re excited to highlight the incredible journeys of our team members who bring their passion, dedication and heart to work each day. This week, we’re shining a light on Ann Atienza, our new Hotel Services Manager at Cuffley Manor Care Home.

🗣️ Here’s Ann’s story in her own words:
"I have a strong background in hospitality, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. My career began at the Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu, and I went on to work at Loews Coronado Bay Resort in California as a Guest Services Agent. From there, I moved to Dubai, where I worked at the Westin Dubai Al Habtoor City, eventually becoming a Rooms Controller. I then joined the Marriott Hotel Al Forsan in Abu Dhabi as part of the Sales & Marketing team, specialising in events and group housing for high-profile groups like Formula 1 teams and government delegations.

I later moved back to Dubai and worked at Hilton Al Habtoor City as Group Housing Executive, managing large-scale international events, including COP-28 and the Paralympic Games.

I joined TLC Care just this June, and I’m loving every moment here. As Hotel Services Manager at Cuffley Manor, I’m using my planning and coordination skills to create seamless, high-quality service for our residents. The opportunity to learn alongside such a talented team is something I truly cherish.

I’ve seen first-hand how TLC’s values of Truth, Love and Compassion guide every interaction, and I’m so grateful to be part of this family. During our recent Resident Meeting, we received incredible feedback from our residents, who not only showed appreciation but also offered suggestions for improvement. It was heartwarming to see how these strong relationships make our workplace feel like home.

This week, our Managing Director, Lorna Russell, had the pleasure of training eleven team members across our care homes and Support Office to become MHFAiders in her role as a trained Mental Health First Aid Instructor with Mental Health First Aid England ().

At TLC Care, we are committed to promoting a culture where people can bring their whole selves to work and have an ethos of supporting good mental health for all. We now have 50+ trained MHFAiders across the Group as part of our wellness strategy and have embedded a culture where we have normalised conversations about our mental health, educating others and breaking down barriers.

Lorna shared: “It has been a really engaging two days, where everyone came together in a supportive environment to learn. Working together, we can continue to make a difference in such an important area."

We recently partnered with , who visited our homes as part of their - we’re delighted it was a great success for our community!

Residents, families and team members attended expert-led financial wellbeing sessions designed to help them take control of their finances. The day included a live webinar, 'Making the Most of Your Money', as well as confidential one-to-one financial health checks and guidance on international banking.

Participants gained practical tips on budgeting, saving, pensions and investing, empowering them to make informed financial decisions for their future.

Ahmet Yesilgozlu, Senior Network Manager at HSBC UK, said: "I wanted to take a moment to share what a fantastic experience we had at our pop-up events at TLC Care. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by both team members and residents, and it was clear how much thought and care had gone into making the day special for everyone involved. Events like this remind us of the real difference we can make when we connect with our communities. We are already looking forward to the opportunity to return."

🗣️ Subin has worked in our TLC family for almost a decade now. Here's his story in his own words:

"I began my journey in healthcare with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from India. I moved to the UK to study a postgraduate course in Nursing Management and during a placement in care, I discovered my passion for the field. That placement led to a permanent role and I have not looked back since.

I later completed a Master’s in Public Health and joined TLC Care as a Unit Manager. Over time I have held various roles including Care Services Manager, Systems Support Manager, Care Support Manager and Home Manager before stepping into my current role as Quality Improvement Manager.

I have always been curious, detail-oriented and eager to improve. This mindset helps me constantly look for ways to raise standards and move us forward.

I love working at TLC because its values of truth, love and compassion align deeply with the values my parents taught me. I love what I do and that makes my work incredibly fulfilling.

TLC has supported me at every stage of my journey. It is more than a workplace. It is a place where I truly feel I belong. If you are looking for a career where you can grow and thrive, I wholeheartedly recommend working here."

Alina shared insights into our journey towards Net Zero and how we embed sustainability into quality care. As an organisation ISO 14001 certified across all our homes, we’re committed to continuous improvement, innovation and responsible care delivery.
