Happy Birthday to the brilliant poet and Sufi mystic Rumi, born today 30 September in 1207.

To mark his birthday, let's share one of his most beautiful poems about opening ourselves to the wonder and gratitude of the Universe.

'And the jewelry the sky wears at night-might as
well say hello to that' -- has to be one my favourite lines!

Which are some of your best loved quotes of poems by Rumi?

- Your Charms May Quadruple -

Being a guest in the universe's house, why not go
out and greet it sometimes in the early morning,

when it may seem she is just waking up and is in
a soft mood and may appreciate more our special
thanks and admiration? We may win her favor and
get a kiss.

Embrace all you can between the poles. Enriched,
then, will be your day, better your luck, more
eloquent your gestures. Your charms may quadruple.

Who wouldn't want that? My suggestions seem a
smart move.

And the jewelry the sky wears at night-might as
well say hello to that, if you are feeling cordial.
Your evening might become filled with intrigue.

Invisible spices are falling from heaven all the time.
If your eye is not holding its hand out, or your
mouth or heart not open,

how will you ever get a full taste of something
that will cure you of many things?

‘The muse’s energy is tapped when you stop and listen to the silence inside. Creating sparks of brilliance from barely glowing embers, she is only a breath away.’

The only time I wore heels to class… and maybe the only time ever wearing Jimmy Choos ( Sadly!)

Not all work days are as glam as this one, but it was fun!

These photos were from a feature with Red Magazine a while back, and some behind the scenes pics too.

The theme was new year, healthy reset and alongside other wellness experts I shared tips from my Mindful Eating Guide called Relish. Which I had written in 2014.

Lots of people want to eat well and improve their diet this time of year. Mindful eating isn’t a nutritional plan with certain foods in or out of favour. Instead it’s about eating joyfully, with understanding and compassion.

Intrigued? Here are a few jumping off points to get started with

6 Steps to Mindful Eating

1️⃣ Pause Before You Begin
Before taking your first bite, pause. Take a deep breath, observe your meal, and give thanks for the journey it took to reach your plate.

2️⃣ Engage Your Senses
Notice the colors, textures, and aromas of your food. Let your eyes and nose savor it before your taste buds do. This sets the tone for a slower, more enjoyable meal.

3️⃣ Take Smaller Bites
Smaller bites allow you to truly experience the flavors and textures of your food. Chew slowly, noticing how each bite transforms as you eat.

4️⃣ Put Down Your Fork
Between bites, set your fork down. It creates space to reflect on the experience of eating and helps prevent rushing through your meal.

5️⃣ Tune Into Your Body
Pay attention to how your body feels as you eat. Notice the signals of satisfaction and stop when you feel comfortably full—not overfull.

6️⃣ Reflect After Eating
When you’re done, pause again. Notice how your body feels, and say thank you for your meal.

Mindful eating isn’t about perfection or doing it with every single thing you eat like a mindfulness robot. It’s just about bringing presence to small corners of the day.

How about you, have you any fun new year plans?

Feeling calm and happy isn’t just for weekends ✨👇🏼

Here are five simple practices you can do anytime to reconnect with your calm, grounded self inspired by my meditation guide book ‘Inhale. Exhale. Repeat.

Just a few small ideas to ease the pace of modern life - especially if you’re balancing work, home, and personal time.

1. Start the Day with Breath Awareness

First thing in the morning, take a few moments to breathe deeply, feeling the rise and fall of your chest. Just five conscious breathes. This small habit to create a calm foundation for the rest of your day.

2. Pause for Mini Mindful Moments

Every now and again pause between one task ending and another starting. Ie if you find yourself rushing out of habit, pause to catch your breath.

Take a moment to feel your feet on the ground and listen to the world around you. This practice recenters you, bringing a little peace to each part of your day.

3. Enjoy Nature Daily

Even if it’s just a short walk or a few minutes with a plant at your desk, spend time with nature. Studies show it’s grounding and lifts your mood—little moments to feel connected and content.

4. Embrace Silence

Silence can be a wonderful friend to the busy mind. Try 1-2 minutes each day to sit quiet and unoccupied. In silence, I realise myself!

5. End the Day with Gratitude

As you settle down at night, take a few breaths and think of one or two things from your day that you’re grateful for. This helps you end on a positive note and eases the mind for restful sleep.

Let me know if you try these gentle tips to bring more calm and joy to your day-to-day.

Save this post to revisit when you need a moment of calm or share with friends who could use a little calm.
