“I’ve not had s*x yet – is that normal?”

The answer? 100% YES!

There’s no “right” age or time to start having s*x. Everyone’s journey is different, and s*x isn’t a race.

What matters most is that when you do choose to have s*x, it’s safe, consensual, and because you want to, not because of pressure from anyone else.

If you haven’t had s*x yet, know this: you’re not behind, you’re not missing out, and you’re definitely not alone!💜

👉🏽 Need someone to talk to? Just send us an email at youngsouthwark@turning-point.co.uk - we’re here to answer any questions you might have around your first time 😊

You don’t have to rush, remember that this is your journey and your timeline, and what matters most is that you feel ready and safe.

Start by telling someone you trust, like a close friend, family member or youth worker.

If you’re thinking about coming out and want someone to talk to, we’re here to listen and support you. You’re not alone.

👉🏽 Just send us an email at youngsouthwark@turning-point.co.uk or visit our link in bio to learn more.

Can and should you have s*x when you’re on your period?

Some females have the same, or an even higher s*x drive when they’re on their period. If you get the urge, there’s no reason why not - as long as you’re both comfortable with it.

But there are a few considerations. You may be more sensitive and tender during your period, take it easy. You do also have to be more careful, as the presence of blood makes catching STIs, especially HIV a greater risk.

Here’s a checklist you can use for safer, more satisfying period s*x:

✅ Communicate with your partner - make sure you’re on the same page
✅ Clean any excess blood before you begin
✅ Remove any sanitary products or devices
✅ Put down a towel
✅ Wear a condom/use a dam
✅ Be gentle
✅ Have fun
✅ Wash right after
✅ Get tested regularly

Condom confusion is real, but once you know, you know!

Condoms offer the best protection from STIs, so practice wrapping it up to make it easier in the moment. Here are some watch outs:

👉🏼 Don’t use if it’s damaged or out of date.

👉🏼 If you put it on the wrong way around bin it and use a fresh one (pre-ejaculate may be on it).

👉🏼 If it slips, rolls up, or breaks, stop and replace with a new one.Wearing a condom is a great way to show respect for yourself and for your partner while having fun together. If you need a little more advice, or free condoms, get in touch.

On the pull tonight? Drinking or taking drugs can impair your judgement, and others' too. So how can you stay safe and have a good time?‌

1.Know what consent really is (hint, if it’s not 'hell yes!' it’s a no!)

2.Share your location - let your friends know where you are at all times

3.Glove up - carry and use a condom every time - it’s the best protection for you and your partner

4.Hold your boundaries - you have every right to say no at any time 🚫

Sexuality is about exploring what works for you and what doesn’t, so it’s ok (and can be really fun!) to test things out.

It’s also ok to say no when something doesn’t feel right…

👉🏼 even it you said yes before

👉🏼 even if it’s already begun

👉🏼 even if you really like the other person

👉🏼 even if you want to try other stuff instead.

Know and name your boundaries and explore with confidence.

Looking after yourself doesn’t begin and end with eating well and going to the gym…Owning your s*xual health will nourish your body, your mind and your sense of self.

So here are 3 ways to take control:‌

1.Know and name your boundaries - communication is key

2.Protect yourself and your partner - condoms are the best barrier to STIs

3.Get tested - regular testing brings peace of mind and early diagnosis leads to early cure.

We can help with all of these things.

Stealthing = s*xual assault.

Removing a condom during s*x without consent is called stealthing, and it’s not okay. It’s not “just a mistake.”

It’s not “no big deal.” It’s a violation of trust and consent and it can lead to criminal charges.Stealthing can:

⚠️ Increase the risk of STIs
⚠️ Lead to unplanned pregnancy
⚠️ Leave lasting emotional harm
⚠️ Be classed as s*xual assault in UK law

Consent is for everything – and that includes using protection.

If someone changes the agreement mid-way, that’s not consent anymore. If this has happened to you, you’re not alone – and support is available.

We’re here to listen, not judge.
