A new umbrella review in Nature Human Behaviour has dismissed 19 alternative approaches for supporting autism, claiming evidence is too low to support any. The authors even built a website warning against exploring non-medical options.

But other research paints a different picture. A narrative review in Acta Microbiologica et Immunologica Hungarica highlights the role of gut microbes in autism, linking microbial imbalance to changes in behaviour. Interventions like probiotics, dietary changes, and even f***l microbiota transplantation are showing promise.

Meanwhile, a Nature Communications study adds more weight—demonstrating how gut bacteria directly influence brain inflammation and autism-like behaviours in animal models.

🧠 The gut–brain connection may be a powerful key to supporting people with autism—an area that deserves more exploration, not dismissal.
