This time last year, we had closed our shop and moved to a new space that was to be less transactional and more experiential so we could focus on building community and proper connections with our customers
My dream had always been to have a successful store (more than one even!) but whilst I'm proud we grew to six figures, the economy and government had other plans.
Thankfully some Camden Council funding and many learnings from the British Library's business accelerator helped me reimagine what Blomma could be outside of the conventional bricks and mortar model and we took the leap to lean fully into creating a haven for natural skincare and make up. We built an events programme for external corporate experiences, moved our facials to a more peaceful space and made our workshop a cosy, welcoming space for immersing yourself in natural skincare and make up through shopping, consultations and classes
Sometimes I think we have 3 businesses in 1, but one of my BL mentors inspired me to think about them all forming a circle, feeding into each other, another asked me, do you want your business to be big or big enough
Both of these things really stuck with me, even through the turbulent events of last year and days when there was tumbleweed across all areas. This year, Lolly and I are feeling that things are falling into place and we are having some amazing opportunities cross our path but in a way that feels fun, energising, balanced and that all important feeling of big enough
Whatever part of our circle you're in, thanks for spinning it around with us!
